Dips on HH keyboard.
« on: Wed, 25 March 2009, 05:49:43 »
Hey.
My black HHKB pro just turned up and its beutiful!
Oh and Chloe the space bar is not noisy like the white one was so I am not sure what was going on there.

Anyway could someone remind me what each dip does?
I am trying to get the left windows key to act as one and I dont seem able too.
I am most likely being dense.

I will take some photos if the sun ever comes out.

Dip instructions are on a label under the 'board.

Windows key not working initially is a standard issue, IIRC. You may have to boot the computer.

I am noticing a slight sticky tick sound when I release a bottomed out key.
Is this just because it is new? I know there is some sort of oil on the PCB as there was a little on the white one I had.
I am guessing its just the rubber or spring sticking to it the releasing.
Any ideas?

Hey, that's great news!  Is this one with or without the lettering on the keys, or did you buy blank keys, too?

I originally wanted black, but the more I look at the white ones, the better they look, hence me buying your previous board.  I might later decide to go for black and will either trade for black, or buy black outright.  I'm sort wishing the white/cream colored PCs would gain popularity again because I'm starting to tire of black just a little.  It's also rather irritating when one purchases a "black" keyboard that turns out to be more of a dark, or charcoal gray.

Very nice... thanks for the photos as I hadn't been to the gallery yet to see them there.

So, did you purchase blank keys as well?

Nice keyboard! I received my HHKB Pro 2 a few weeks ago... planning on writing a month-of-ownership review in a week or two. Picture over at Flickr.

For more on the DIP switches (particularly, what layouts you get with what configuration), the HHKB website has pictures of the layouts.
