Adding a solenoid, vibration motor, buzzer to GH60.
« on: Tue, 05 July 2016, 03:41:28 »
Hi guys, I had this idea about adding some form of additional feedback to the GH60 keyboard. I know it has some GPIO but how can it be addressed?
Ideally I'd like by GH60 with vintage black to have some kind of feedback on actuation. The best would be a clicking solenoid like in old IBMs, but a buzzer would also be nice.
Do you know if it's possible and if it is, how to do it?

If you attach a circuit which makes noise when it has power to a transistor and connect the signal on the transistor to a pin on your controller configured as a reactive backlight (when you press a key the LED glows - adjust the timings so it goes dim really fast) I think you'd get the effect you desire.

I would wait for someone who's actually confident to say why this won't work before trying it though, I'm just thinking out loud.

Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what I was thinking although I'd like a bit more details though. I'm not really that good with designing electronics stuff myself, I'm ok with building them however.
