Being from oregon I have always been a bit spoiled by good beer.
Ha! I'm up here in portland, so I have the same problem.
that costs less than rubbing alcohol! :puke:
All I know about Tesco is Lily Allen songs.

Lily hit the jager pretty hard in concert but I think she's cleaned up her act.
God I hate jager. Tastes like distilled lederhosen.
Taste like cough syrup = D
i'm not usually one for mixing alcohol with pop/soda straight up, but SC and Dr. Pepper... love it.

Whoa whoa, beer in plastic BOTTLES? What kind of sorcery is that? I've seen cheap Chinese beer in plastic bags, never bottles.
Sacrilege.
^ My favorite beer is FREE beer. (Attachment) 35839I'll drink to that.

Ukraine has plastic bottles beer, but only large ones like 2-3l. It's the really cheap brands like Arsenalnoye, Lvivske and cost around equivalent of 1euro. You see those bald guys in tracksuits drinking it loitering around metro stations. I remember drinking some cheap piss in Czech in plastic too something like Zlato, and of course the dreadful Newmarkt in plastic jug in Romania but it cost like 30cent.
In the US I see cheap beer like Coors in plastic at the race track. They stopped having glass since people were throwing them at the horses when they were loosing.
My favorites are Yuengling and various microbrew lagers.
I'll try to czech out the first two when possible. Third one - not so much.
- micro-brewery (http://www.svatovaclavsky-pivovar.cz/nase-piva)
- Svijany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svijany_Brewery)
- Pilsner Urquell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plze%C5%88sk%C3%BD_Prazdroj)
Belle-Vue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle-Vue_Brewery) Kriek Lambic (all time favourite)
(Attachment) 36455
Staropramen
Highland Park Single Malt
Laphroaig Single Malt
Sailor Jerry + Cherry Coke
White Russians
Holy **** that looks good.
It is the most delicious alcoholic beverage I have ever consumed. I recommend everyone try it if you can find a pub that has it on tap.
As far as krieks/lambics/sours go, I've only tried Lindeman's and a sour that my local brewpub had. Will definitely have to go out and look for more!
Yuengling... my favorite. Too bad the don't sell it where I live, I have to drive like 2 hours just to buy a case.
Prob my favorite grocery store (cheap) beer. I like both the regular & the darker black & tan. Sometimes Micahlobs Amberbock to mix it up.
The Yuengling brewery is like a 8 minute drive from my house :D
http://www.yuengling.com/breweries/tampa/
I should go take a tour of it one day.
I agree, the Yuengling lager and the Yuengling black & tan are both quite delicious. The black & tan is much smoother, and I almost prefer it over the lager. It may be time for me to take a road trip up to New York and buy a case or two.
This thread makes me thirsty.
If you like Yuengling you should try Shinerbock. It tastes extremely similar except it's brewed in Texas instead of Tampa. If you ever visit the Tampa area be sure to take a tasting tour of the Cigar City Brewery.
It is not fair
Care to elaborate?
That Frosty Jack's cider looks awesome. That looks so ****ing cheap that must be good. :D
I've tried several different types of beer and can't get into any of them. I think it's probably the alcohol.
I'm rediscovering one of my old favorite drinks. Take some light crisp beer like Peroni and drop a shot of Cointreau and slice of lemon in. I've also been into New Belgium Belgo lately.
Yeah it's a nice one, perhaps my favorite of theirs. I like IPA, and Belgian spiced, and it's like the best of both. Their trippel is ok, but nowhere near as good as some of the actual Belgian abbey ones, and is not cheap enough compared to make me compromise. Never heard of Stone, I don't think they sell it in my area.
I discovered Rum is a fine thing. Also cuban cigars. This ****ty new years eve. Now I gotta spend money. :(
Mmm... I could go for a cigar right about now.
Cigars huh? I've had a couple which were failures. I didn't know how to light them properly. I finally lit one correctly and had a great smoke which lasted for at least 45 minutes or so, but the taste notes that you're supposed to get from them... I don't know. It wasn't Cuban quality mind you but it was an alright one. Fruit notes, etc I don't get. Again, I'm not well versed in cigars (I used to smoke cigarettes and found the difference in Camel and Marlboro tabacco) so I guess it's just experience based.
Every time I've smoked a cigar out of politeness it's been an unenjoyable experience. If you're not supposed to inhale then what's the point?
LOL. I smoke usually either Gitanes Brunes unfiltered, or Belomorkanal for cigarettes and some cigars to me are like lights. I also always smoke them 'improperly' as inhaling is not overwhelming for me.
I generally prefer Maduro and Oscuro types and avoid the large ones, and stick with corona or smaller. I have a thing for box pressed ones at the moment too.
On topic: I discovered Philippines beer this weekend. Some of it was sort of weird tasting, but the cheapo San Miguel Pilsen wasn't too bad at all.
Let's just drop the act and admit cigars taste awful already.
That's why it helps to be drinking while smoking cigars. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed a good cigar, probably because I've moved on to other things.
One good beer I usually enjoy with Sushi ->Show Image(http://www.ndc.co.jp/en/selection/img/87asahi02.jpg)

That is usually the only time I smoke cigars is when I drink. I find that it makes me need to drink less to feel a good buzz. It seems to enhance my drunkenness substantially.

I am not really a big drinker at all, but since I have been living in Belgium I really enjoy the different beers they have. I don't really like American beer so when I leave here I won't drink much I imagine.

I agree, some of the smaller American breweries actually make some very nice beers. You might be particularly interested in Ommegang (Duvel North America). A lot of Belgian beer is imported to US, and easy to find the bigger brands like Chimay, Gulden Drak, Piraat, Duvel, etc.
Ommegang makes great Belgian style beer. Also Unibroue from Canada (pretty easily found in America though, there are many places to get it where I live and you really wouldn't expect to find it here). Their La Fin Du Monde, Maudite, and Trois Pistoles are the top notch and available year round. I think they have some seasonals as well.
Unibroue's beers are amazing. Trois Pistoles and La Find Du Monde especially. FTW
Delirium makes some damn good belgian styles as well.
American Macro beer like Bud and Miller, no way. But there's been a huge Craft Beer movement in America and the beer here is as diverse as in Belgium. Lots of GREAT stuff that you can look for once you're back. Where are you based in the US?
I've got almost 2 more years here so I am sure I will try a bunch more. No idea where I will end up next though, but I was around Saint Louis when I was in the States last. I have tried a bunch of the trappist beers and some I like and others not so much. I didn't really like Chimay. I really like Saint-Feuillien.
I only started drinking beer about two months ago. So far, my favorites are Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat and Dos Equis with a lime. I've only tried maybe a dozen beers so far though.
I found just now the first beer by New Belgium I absolutely hate, Cocoa Mole spice ale. Do not recommend. I was in an adventurous mood and it did not pay off.
Tastes like an accident spilled beer in cocoa, and then knocked over a shaker of chili powder in it.
OK, you guys don't know ****.
How about this one?
What is Cenosillicaphobia the fear of?
I drink all my limited release beers. But if I was to sell....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Surly-Darkness-2007-VERY-RARE-Imperial-Stout-NOT-three-floyds-lost-abbey-/290644214890?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43abbec46a
That's a great place to start. I didn't particularly like the Sunset Wheat when I first started drinking beer, my cousin told me it tasted like Fruit Pebbles so I totally had to try it. I was disappointed. Had it a month ago (after a year+ of beer drinking) and finally tasted the Fruit Pebbles.
If you have a good beer place, look for Weihenstephaner Weissbier. You will not be disappointed. Also start drinking hoppier beers like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or something equivalent. It will help you get used to that bitter taste and make many other beers taste better.
Tried some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale the other day. Didn't really like it D:

There's a brewery in Houston, TX called St. Arnolds. Great beer from what I've tried, and they also have a "lawnmower" and "weedwacker" beer.. decided to try the weedwacker, and it tasted literally like grass clippings. Most odd beer I've ever tried.
lol!
Anyway, last night I had 2 Anchor Porters which were pretty good and a La Fin du Monde which was super wheaty (i think? i dunno, it was odd) but not bad :)
Can't go wrong with a Newcastle, or a Guinness. Although, I'm really diggin the local micro-brews here in Denver, like Breckenridge.
Trying to develop my taste for whisky lately though. About half way through the Jameson I bought a few days ago - something cheap, but decent to start me off.
ARRRRRRRRRRRR. MOAR WHISKY
Mmmmm....whiskey...ever try Bushmills Irish potato whiskey? It's like crack in a bottle.
Mmmmm....whiskey...ever try Bushmills Irish potato whiskey? It's like crack in a bottle.I prefer bourbon. Bulleit to the head.
Ditto on the Sam Smith Oatmeal stout. Firestone Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout isn't bad.
