Yay!
My Cherry MX Gray keyboard came today, and I finally got to give it a test spin.
Well, no surprise here, but these keys are heavy! I know technically Cherry MX Greens are supposed to be the same 80g weight, but these feel much heavier. They have a heavy spring that increases resistance as you type down on them. Great thing though, is that I don't bottom out much anymore. Plus, the switches actuate about at least the half-way point or slightly higher making touch typing a lot easier. I've only used this thing a little while now, but my typos have gone way down already. I have a tendency to miss my key press slightly and partially hit the adjacent key actuating it. No more with this bad boy.
I wish very much they had a backlit version, but this is for work anyway so no issues there. I will probably purchase a Ducky Shine III backlit with Black switches for home use.
The keycaps feel nice and sturdy with little wobble and a slightly gritty feeling that grips the fingertip while your pressing down. Great quality. No alternate color Escape key is provided, but they do include red WASD keycaps but they are like the ones that come with the Ducky Shine.
Do I recommend it? It's probably not for most people. My wife actually learned to type years ago on an old manual typewriter, and she says it feels similar. Her typing accuracy was much better with this keyboard, so it's definitely good for her.
It's also great not to bottom out the spacebar too. I think a hybrid black/gray keyboard would be perfect with the outlying keys such as the spacebar being the heavier Gray switch.
I'll give more thoughts after I've used it a few days.
Let me know if you have questions.
