Sources for Realforce keycaps?
« on: Sun, 07 December 2014, 13:31:03 »
For better or worse, I’m taking the plunge with a Realforce keyboard.

I’d like to replace the Caps Lock keycap with a Control cap, because I’m very committed to the ancient and honorable Alt-Shift-Ctrl pattern on the left side of the board.  That’s led me on a quest to search the world of Topre keycaps, which seems surprisingly barren.

It looks as if I can find complete sets for Realforce, but the sets  wouldn’t give me the specific key I want.  Elite Keyboards sells a few partial sets.  EK’s “6-Key Modifier Set for Topre Keyswitches” would add color, but wouldn’t give me a Ctrl cap that’s the right size for the Caps Lock position.

Would the Control key in EK’s “Limited Edition Control and Esc Kit for HHKB” work to replace Caps Lock on a Realforce?  (Kudos to HHKB for putting the Ctrl key where it belongs to the left of ‘A’.)

Are there any other sources I should be investigating?

Yeah eBay seems to be the only option, but they're so expensive sigh......

I've been looking at Topre keycaps too but doesn't have the balls to buy it.

Widebasket is the only source right now. EK just got some, but not full sets.

I answered one of my own questions -- using two of the caps from EK's “Limited Edition Control and Esc Kit for HHKB” on my new RF board.  It adds some color and gives me correctly-labeled keys in every position except Caps Lock, which is now mislabeled as a Ctrl key, but I can live with that.  [ Specified attachment is not available ]
