CS:GO MLG Columbus 2016
« on: Thu, 20 August 2015, 15:03:58 »
Noticed a thread about the DOTA International and figured we could have one for CS:GO.  Due to the multiple majors per year, maybe this could be an overall majors thread if people like CSGO?

MLG Official Website

Similar to the International, CS:GO has 4 majors over the year.  Each with a $250,000 prize pool.  The main reason I get interested in this is due to the drops.  By linking your Twitch and your Steam account, you have the chance to get a drop for free when watching the game (I just leave twitch open in a minimized tab).  These drops can range from $2.50 - $80 in value.  I have 2 drops from the previous tournaments that have a value of ~$30 total in Steam wallet funds.  In addition, the tournament brings out new stickers which, as a trader, I use to invest somewhat. For example, I paid $5 worth of wallet funds to get 20 stickers.  Those stickers were $0.25 each at the last day of the tournament, and are now $0.66 for the cheapest one while some are near the $2.00 range.  I don't know why, but I think its fun trying to get the best investment possible in an attempt to save for a knife skin.

So, anyone else interested in this tournament?

Never got into the whole Pick 'Em challenge as I thought you used up the stickers, but might try next major.  Might try a couple $5 bets too next major.

So far no drops for me, anyone get lucky yet?

EDIT: Checked my second account.  It got a cobblestone drop =D

Was hoping they would win against Fnatic as well. Good games though.

Spent ~$23 in Steam wallet funds on stickers and capsules.  Started out trading with only one key and managed to make about $225 profit and enough leftovers for those funds.

Bought:

Basic Team Stickers = Virtus Pro x5, NIP x2, Kinguin x6, Mousesports x4, EnVyUs x2, Navi x2, Cloud 9 x2, Renegades x4, Titan x2, TSM x2, Fnatic x2, ESL One x2.

Basic Player Capsules: Virtus Pro x2, NIP x2, Kinguin x1

Capsules: Legends x2, Challengers x2, Group B Autograph x2, Group D Autograph x1.

Also bought 2 Renegades foil team stickers as my steam username is Renegade.

And now the wait.

EnvyUS will be a strong team soon.    NBK <3

Props to fnatic for an amazing comeback win on dust2 and to take home the title for a third time.

Updated the Original Post with information regarding Dreamhack Cluj-Napoca 2015.

Might try the Pick Em challenge for once, anyone else?  The fantasy team challenge looks interesting & better than the MVP thing they did at Cologne.

Why do the stickers have to be so ugly though?

The fantasy team idea is much better than the previous player challenge.

Looking forward to this week. Lots of talent now to keep it interesting.

Unfortunately I lost track of time and didn't do either of the challenges.

Did manage to get a Cobblestone case from the final match though.

Lets be honest here, C9 had a good streak for about a month and then just went back to typical NA. They had been flat since they got back from AUS.

I know but I was so happy for a whole minute!  My favorite team has to be virtus mainly for the pasha.  I just hate fnatic with a passion and I don't know why.

Always have next tournament to get it

Taking 18 credit hours this semester so I didn't even get to see any games up until maybe Sunday morning for the semi finals and finals.  Was either on campus for class or studying during the majority of the games.

Was really surprised that Fnatic only got ~8th place considering that they won the last major.  Did hear that the G2 vs EnvyUs game was a nail bitter.

Only had ~$3.50 worth of credit on my trading account so I ended up just buying 1 of each team just to keep.

I got up to watch the finals and the analyst desk was on.  Watched that for a little bit and then got called into work for an issue they were having :(.  It is surprising that they only took 8th.  That's not even relatively close to the finals lol

Alright, made a couple tweaks to the OP for MLG 2016.  Some interesting notes are the increase in prize pool $250,000 to $1,000,000. I could not find many links compared to last year, but still a have a week or so to get that knocked out.

If you have CSGO I HIGHLY suggest at least linking your Steam & Twitch (or w/e) and leaving the game up.  I got two Cobblestone Souvenirs and sold both for $40 each.  I now have $71 in funds that I am going to be spending on stickers once they drops to $0.25.  Why? Because I recently sold one of the stickers I bought from Katowice 2015 for $9.00.  I love free money.

Regardless, I am also looking to play the pick em game and am wondering who everyone thinks will win in the group stages?  I haven't had the opportunity to play in a while let alone know which teams are better.
Right now I am thinking:
  • NiP
  • Not a clue
  • Not a clue
  • Fnatic
  • NV
  • Not a clue
  • NAVI
  • VP

Unfortunately, I have a field training exercise that weekend and will not be able to watch. I will be leaving my PC on watching the game in hopes of getting a drop.
