Happy 2 year anniversary!

And wow. That is an incredible collection!
So many unbuilt boards :O

I thought to say "I wish I could have a third of your collection and a quarter of your post count by the time my 2 year rolls around! :)"

... Then I realized my 2 year is two months  :):'(
I need more keyboards that aren't cherry switches >.>

Tried searching Matt3o's keypuller.com database for red but it didn't show up.

I was going to bake one of mine into jello, then realized that would be taking it too far, and possibly damage the cap.

That IBM punch card thing is awesome. Have you figured out how it works? Can it be made to function as a keyboard somehow? What would typing on it feel like?

Also it seems pretty sacrilegious to replace arbitrary keycaps in the middle of an APL set with ugly metal blanks. :P

Thanks for the kind words everyone!   :-*

have you actually counted?  what is your averaged keycap gains per day?

:p  jeebus
I actually have a spreadsheet of all my purchases as of last November (I was curious about how much I had spent thus far  :-X ).  If you're curious I would be happy to share it.

Happy anniversary!

Fantastic collection :)

That SpAmRaY keycap :))
Thanks!  The LumberChap cap is actually modeled after me though.  :P  It was from when Binge was sculpting caps to raise funds for his casting setup.

I was not going to read this but got sucked into it.

OMFG!

Are you the one who executed the turkey with the blue Alps Tour Omnikey maneuver?

I was worried about the price of a windshield, but these caps exceed the price of an entire car!

Good thing that you are a young man so that there are enough years left in your lifetime to wear out this gear.
Hahahaha, glad you stuck around to read it.  :)  I am indeed the one who executed the turkey...   :-[   The windshield actually cost less than a few of my keyboards...

why do rich people put their artisan keycaps in greasy food though
:-X :-[ I'm not rich tho.  And because it's perfectly safe.  ;D

That is a combination of Red Alert 2.0 (alphas) and Klaxon (mods).   :thumb:   demik was only partially right.  ;)  Red Alert 2.0 was my first classifieds purchase here, from sleepy916.  Not sure if he remembers.  :))

That IBM punch card thing is awesome. Have you figured out how it works? Can it be made to function as a keyboard somehow? What would typing on it feel like?
I have figured out how it works mechanically, which is incredibly impressive (the mechanism, not my understanding).  The mechanism is a hybrid between a typewriter and a keyboard.  I have the patent files for a similar keyboard, if you're curious.  I had zero luck finding documents pertaining to this particular keyboard.  And unfortunately, the original wiring included about 40 (not exaggerating) wires from the keyboard to the main computer unit, so it was in my mind impossible to directly convert it.  I opted to cut some of it apart and started to wire up my own solution.  Then I moved and shelved the project.  :(  I really want to finish it up and see if I'm successful.  The downside is that I will need an entirely custom firmware for it, so we'll see what I can hack together for that.  :))  If you're curious, you can see more photos here and I'd be happy to take more pictures / discuss the topic more if you're curious.  This is probably the most intriguing keyboard I own (IMO), and is the one project I hope to complete most.

Also it seems pretty sacrilegious to replace arbitrary keycaps in the middle of an APL set with ugly metal blanks. :P
Is it okay if it's a replica APL set?  :P  You're right though.  Maybe you can rest easy knowing that they didn't stay there for longer than it took to take the photo.  They now reside on the 62-key 4704.

COS DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! Nice collection bro, so many nice boards and caps!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I saw the rest of the pictures, and looked briefly at them, but it’s a bit hard to tell from static 2d pictures how a 3d mechanism works, at least for me. :-)

I’m sure there are folks here who could help out with the electronics side if you get the mechanical part all cleaned up.

Anyway, again, awesome keyboard.

Excellent job of testing pretty much all the dope keyboards out there, Hoff.  Your collection of keyboards that you've owned (and still own) is really impressive.

I hope to try all those keyboards someday.  Glad to see you're still with it strong after 2 years.  My girlfriend was shocked I was still interested in keyboards after a year,
but it's hard to lose interest in something when there are constantly so many new and amazing boards available and so many vintage old boards one must try.

Keep with it, baller. :thumb

Hoff!!!! I haven't said it yet but I've been lurking your anni thread while I waited for my e-boner to go down... amazing collection and fantastic photos - so glad someone as enthusiastic as you is taking the time to share your keyboard love with all of us! Keep being you mang :thumb:

Anytime I think I spend too much money on keyboards or that other people must be rich to have all the sweet keyboard swag they do, I remember my co-workers with hobbies like cycling and boating, where their investment in the hobby is 5-6 digits deep, and I feel much better  :))

I kinda remember that, but for some reason this keycap always reminds me of SpAmMy.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Awesome collection and beautiful photographs as usual man.

Who made that pink on white topre fn? It's gorgeous!

Do you like the novatouch personally? Hearing lots of mixed things about them but I am very tempted. The HHKB space bar is preventing me from wanting to do a stem swap from it so I'd probably keep the board as is.
