Help for 60% PCB
« on: Tue, 06 February 2018, 15:48:30 »
I am about to build my first 60% keyboard with the gh60 pcb, in this venture of gathering information and parts overtime I decided i want a very specific layout as in the image below (ignore the allocated letters and modifier keys). The gh60 is unable to do what I want in the bottom spacebar row, so I was wondering if there is a pcb around $40 that I can use for my desired layout, and if there is a site I can purchase a 5u spacebar from. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Also not necessary but I do kind of want a pcb with built in ps/2 support.

5U spacebars are going to be really tough to find. I don't think any PCBs exist that support that layout anyway. PS/2 is not something you're going to find on PCBs nowadays.

Your right shift area is weird (never seen a PCB that can do it) too - /? is always 1u and right shift can be split 1/1.75u or 1.75/1u on the GH60 but most boards only support the 1u on the edge.

I'm fairly sure handwiring or designing your own PCB is the only option for that layout.

in terms of keycaps, I know the XDA sets on taobao and aliexpress should support your layout if you change it slightly.

I believe the right hand side of the board works with the gh6o I hope i tested it properly, anyway ill double check it. It's more the spacebar location, how about a pcb for a layout like this with the spacebar being the native 6.25u.

That's a standard bottom row so any PCB will work.

You have an interesting choice of keys on there for a primary layer but that's the point of a programmable board :)

Its not a standard bottom row, 4 keys on the left 3 on the right

:-[ good point!

No, as soon as you start doing random things there is no PCB support.  PCBs are made to match available keycap sets and keycap sets are made to match PCBs - it's a catch 22.

You could always get a custom plate cut and handwire it?  Can put what you want where you want then.

I found this https://clueboard.co/support/clueboard-66-aluminum-layouts not exactly a 60% pcb but looks like I'll be able to design a similar layout to what I want. Does anyone know if any cases would be compatible with the 66% clueboard?
