hello from PA

I just retired an decade+ old desktop, and the wireless Logitech combo need to be retired as well. I am here to build one or more mechanical keyboards for a better typing experience -- all the better to match the speedy successor desktop. I plan to begin with a 60% board with holtites, and then consider whether a tenkeyless or a full 104 keyboard may still be desired.  (I am typing on a full board now.)

One of my questions concerns the relationship between the PCB and the plate; does the case separate these by a standard fixed distance? So, if I choose plate-mounted switches, then I shouldn't expect any issues of wobbly PCB-mounted switches, right?

I haven't acquired anything yet, but my research suggests a wooden case (probably maple), Cherry switches (considering blue first, maybe with clears for certain keys). Dunno about keys yet, but it sounds like double shot PBTs are the preferred feel.

That's all for now. IF you have recommended vendors, feel free to provide your suggestions.

Thanks,
Kirk
