"The Massdrop x Invyr Holy Panda Mechanical Switches will launch Dec 7 at 6 a.m. PT. At checkout, choose a set of 20 (base price), 50 (+$30), 70 (+$50), 90 (+$70), 110 (+$80), 180 (+$142), or 330 (+$260) switches."

(I have nothing in common with MD, I just consider the news interesting and long awaited, also in context of other recent hot debates about holy pandas here)

So...As correctly stated in the GSUS threads, this rumor had a ton of weight to it, and the people blasting it were the actual liars???

1. Wait for competitor to announce still expensive pricing of $1 per switch
2. Match competitor's pricing because undercutting the competition would be rude  ;)
3. Nobody complains about $1 a switch

edit: forgot these came with the halo stem while the gsus pandas dont. So I guess it is an acceptable deal.

Considering the Zilent V2s are .90 a switch, and these are subjectively better, that’s a good deal.  Especially since it comes with the stem already.

Yeah it’s still expensive, but so are a lot of switches these days...

I am wondering the same thing! I love how everyone's acting like the other group buy is RIP. I mean sure its going to take a hit but... the other switches have been tested. The massdrop version hasn't been. Whats going to be funny is if the massdrop version isn't the same. People are so quick to jump on hype with out asking the important questions like the above.

Supervan was running @ $1 for a panda clone. Then you’d have to source out halo stems/switches which i’m sure not a lot of people would be willing to sell. Supply and demand will make halo prices shoot up if that were the case.

It's all theory and conjecture until we have reviews.

I know I won't be ordering until there's some reviews out there.

BSUN had broken moulds, has had money invested to be fixed. Two manufacturers are involved in making these.

Working off of round 2 samples, both Zisb and 27 won't release until they're certain they're as good as the original round.

You're right to treat these switches with some caution. But you've got it backwards if you think anyone needs to prove your crazy theory wrong.

It'd be one hell of twist though haha.

Well, Supervan mentioned in his thread that Panda R2 is not going to be same as R1 because this time they use polycarbonate top housing.

Whether this is good or bad remains to be seen. I'd expect mixed reception. Polycarbonate housing is probably going to be somewhat smoother than the original, but in the same time will sound worse because poly has some inherent zing to it.

Just a reminder that Supervan's word is now completely useless. Everything he said was a lie in his thread. He stated that 27 had flown to China and purchased switches = Untrue.  He said the molds for pandas had been destroyed but had access to them = untrue.  He said that he would be doing a GB for the switches = Somewhat true, but the fact of the matter is that he bought switches before collecting money and now he's SOL.

He's got every reason to crap on the MD Pandas and make claims that aren't true.  The original creators said that the MD pandas would be the same materials as the originals...

Temper the emotions please! I say that because there no proof anything you stated is true.

I am going to be cynical on this.

On one side we have supervan who has really poor customer service and is obviously out to make some money. He trying to run a group buy at almost double his original price for a switch (60cent china vs 1.00 USD). The switches have been tested and found to be reasonably close to original panda's. These are all facts. We know them as hard truths unless .. its a giant conspiracy by some of the larger names in the community.

On the other side we have 27 who co owned the original panda molds. He is also going a year plus on a outstanding group buy that was promised to run smoothly as it was going to be partially manufactured in Canada. There also the fact he and his partner have stated the molds were damaged during use. These are all facts.

Things that can't be confirmed are.
Massdrop's version is just like the Original.
That the Original molds were used by either party.
That either party even had access to the original molds.
This entire thing is just a money grab.

I hope this works out, and both parties end up being able to sell switches. The one thing the community will benefit from for a FACT is having more choices when it comes to switches. What NO one benefits from is all this finger pointing and speculation. Its really simple people don't like Supervan's buy.. ok don't buy from him. People don't like massdrop then don't buy from them. People don't like either.. then go to novel key's they got those cream switches I personally want to try. Until we have more hard facts.. the massdrop version is just as up in the air as any other version of panda's that hadn't been tested.

6 month ship date and the molds haven't even been fixed yet. How are they sending reviewer samples out when they have broken molds? How do they even know they can fix the molds in a way that will bring them back to the originals?

100% shadiness going on here. It should be clear to everyone what MD is trying to do.

Can someone enlighten or remind us, what the material of the switch top housing of the original Invyr Panda is? Not POM, not Polycorbonate, not known?

If not the same material, I'd say, wait for some switch testing first, if you expect real Holy Pandas..

But whatever, even if they are not the same, competition is always good (for us..).

Opaque polycarbonate

This is identical.

6 month ship date and the molds haven't even been fixed yet. How are they sending reviewer samples out when they have broken molds? How do they even know they can fix the molds in a way that will bring them back to the originals?

100% shadiness going on here. It should be clear to everyone what MD is trying to do.

There's more than one mold. Enough to make samples, not quite enough for a full production run. They're working on fixing the ones they haven't already.

So was original Invyr Panda Nylon bottom? Advertisement says it was all POM, which seemed to be not really the case, according to some smoke video on youtube (and now also Puddy has a different opinion)?!

Either way, MD will be a second and in my book different batch. I will just keep watching the show and supply and joice of Panda likes can just increase..

Tough decision to be made: join/buy this massdrop, or stay away? I miss in-depth information: who is behind this massdrop? Are the switches knock-offs or accurate copies? Why don't they give these switches out to independent testers? All this lack of info gives me a bad feeling.

Pay with paypal, if MD doesn't live up to any of the claims in the next 6 months, with the samples, moulds etc... File a claim with paypal.

I have a feeling that these are just Halo true switches with white tops. I believe the novelkeys cream switches use the different Kalih cherry style latch.

Someone care to prove me wrong?

My cream switches are the only switches being used with the MX style latching system from Kailh.

that solves that

Right, because massdrop has never claimed an idea or switch design as thier own before.

My original comment meant that they're both made by kalih and now that I know you own the tooling to the housing, it's obvious they aren't kalih housings as they're made by bsun with a kalih stem.

massdrop has generally had a roller coaster perception in the community but I'm pretty positive if they went forward with this drop and the "holy pandas" they charge for are not the equivalent of the holy panda the community thinks they're getting- it'll be pretty catastrophic on their rep... so I think they'll get this right.

Same here, I did the math and I can think of about 150,000 reasons why they want to get this right. If the differences arent imperceptible, the results will be catastrophic for the gb and people simply will get discouraged, this is a pretty big buy so I imagine it will go off without a hitch and people will ultimately be pretty happy, if not happier considering the price point.

In case anyone hasn't heard already, Quakemz has confirmed with Massdrop that the "samples" they sent out used original Invyr Panda housings, meaning they are not the same product being sold in the GB. https://topclack.com/textclack/2018/12/19/holy-panda-switches-new-and-old-by-quakemz

I can't think of anything to call this other than scummy. Pretending to have samples in order to get good reviews is such a ****ty thing to do. I'll be waiting until the 1st round is over so we can get real reviews of this product, since Massdrop seems to screw up most things where they're responsible for organizing manufacturing.

Admittedly, I do think it's strange to send someone samples of something to test out and provide a review only to later state it's not the final product. If they had said that beforehand it would've been slightly more reasonable. However, I do get that there are plenty of companies out there who send out review products that are not finalized to get thoughts on how to improve them before the final production.

But that isn't what is happening here. They're making a copy of an existing switch. The samples were sent out in order for people to verify that they feel the same as the original, existing switches. Sending out the original switches for people to verify that they feel the same as the original switches serves no purpose other than deceit.

Why does the story of the holy panda get shadier by the day, you can't just make this **** up anymore, it has to be a deliberate attempt to deceive people into purchasing inferior products, I don't think I can join GB based on principle alone. They really need to extend the GB until the samples go out, or this is just ridiculous.

Ye, if this imputation is true, then these original switches they call "samples" aren't samples of the advertised product, but of another product. Is there some person in charge for the MD who can be contacted and asked about this matter?

It was Massdrop that sent them out, 27 has pretty much done nothing related to the GB as of yet. He's asking YanboWu to comment on the whole thing since he's the one who actually works for MD. i can't belive i still get involved in posts about this ****

anyway

the samples were to prove the supply chain worked (which was the biggest obstacle), production samples should come in march (or earlier)

so, these were newly manufactured, but with a slightly different piece of tooling, which was a communication error

the only part of the original mold that was damaged was the runners, so the gates and sprues are fine

the entity that made the mistake here was massdrop for not communicating, and there has been assurance from md that communication will be improved in the future

other than that, i know as much as you guys do

there's a lot of misinformation being spread, which isn't doing anyone any favors

i will also say that personally attacking anyone doesn't do anything to solve the problem. the best thing you can do right now is to vote with your wallet

cancelling a massdrop order is as easy as sending a support ticket, maybe easier

the dates for most of this had been planned out before gsus even entered IC, so it's just a case of unfortunate timing on both ends, i seriously doubt md is intentionally being shady to gain sales

but im sure there are plenty of you who won't believe me anyway and i'll probably get a few more pms on discord telling me to harm myself in creative ways because some of you get way twisted about ****ing keyboard switches

occam's razor applies

I mean, I've never bought from MD before - can't we just cancel the order even though the GB purchase date has been reached? Say, they send out samples in March - and they turn out to be ****, can't we just cancel at that point in time and be refunded - or does it have to be within the GB period?

Massdrop almost always allows people to cancel their order post-drop, especially if any issues are encountered (manufacturing defects, any sort of delay etc). There is absolutely no reason to think this drop would be any different.

So honestly the people running around spreading propaganda and threatening people need to seriously sit down and look in the mirror and consider joining a different hobby- this community can be more toxic than the gaming community sometimes but I guess they overlap. You have literally almost nothing to lose.

They're keyboard switches, Massdrop is trying to solve a major market need. Honestly the worst case scenario in this drop is that the initial run doesn't meet expectations, they delay it and get it right. Massdrop didn't get to where they are today by scamming people.

I'm looking forward to when these turn out to be completely fine and all the conspiracy theorists change their names and make new accounts and start begging Massdrop to re-run it.

i can't belive i still get involved in posts about this ****

anyway

the samples were to prove the supply chain worked (which was the biggest obstacle), production samples should come in march (or earlier)

so, these were newly manufactured, but with a slightly different piece of tooling, which was a communication error

the only part of the original mold that was damaged was the runners, so the gates and sprues are fine

the entity that made the mistake here was massdrop for not communicating, and there has been assurance from md that communication will be improved in the future

other than that, i know as much as you guys do

there's a lot of misinformation being spread, which isn't doing anyone any favors

i will also say that personally attacking anyone doesn't do anything to solve the problem. the best thing you can do right now is to vote with your wallet

cancelling a massdrop order is as easy as sending a support ticket, maybe easier

the dates for most of this had been planned out before gsus even entered IC, so it's just a case of unfortunate timing on both ends, i seriously doubt md is intentionally being shady to gain sales

but im sure there are plenty of you who won't believe me anyway and i'll probably get a few more pms on discord telling me to harm myself in creative ways because some of you get way twisted about ****ing keyboard switches

occam's razor applies

How can you say this after you've nuked the whole HP fiasco thread on reddit?

Not a single person in the world can answer this question yet.

You could've read even the last page of this thread and got that answer btw.

Looks like MD may have pulled through on the samples at the 11th hour. There's no way to confirm if this new sample was from the old batch, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and putting in an order.

I am considering getting some. I figure the market will be flooded and they will be easy to get.

I put money aside for this. I'm eager to try them out.

BTW, if I'm used to using 68-72g SPRiT springs, are these stock springs going to need swapping?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming the MD Holy Pandas use the standard Invyr Panda springs, which are 67g bottom out.

I joined HP groupbuy.  I hope they will be similar to original ones.

I heard holy pandas are much better when lubed.  with  Tribosys 3204 perhaps...  https://www.switchmod.net/product/tribosys-3204

Lubing is directly correlated to the smoothness of these switches. It's 100% on topic for these switches.

What do you want people to talk about if they can't talk about lubing these?

What's wrong with talking about lubing the switches in this thread?
