In-Switch LEDs
« on: Tue, 07 January 2020, 06:12:50 »
Hi Geekhack Community,

i would like to use some In Switch LEDs for the Keyboards i'm going to get this year.
I'm looking for high quality LEDs. I found some sites that sell LEDs, but i'm not sure which ones to get.
What's better, 1.8mm or 3mm? Do you know any other sites for LEDs, preferably in Europe.

For LEDs it seems that switches are made to take the 3mm kind, that being said some switches will have slots instead of holes and allows for more options.
As far as site to buy LEDs from you will have more color options if you go with an electronic supplier (Mouser, Farnell, Digi-Key...) than going with a keyboard part supplier and if timing is not critical there are very cheap options when you look at chinese vendors (LCSC, ebay...).

I like 1.8mm like these:

...not where I bought mine, just the best photo. They fit down into the recess in the housing and make a very neat installation.
