I kind of want to jump on the Topre bandwagon. I've bought retrogame stuff of YAJ before a few times it seems like much better value than ebay, shipping notwithstanding. Is that the case for keyboards as well? Looking now it doesn't seem like there are a ton of boards but there are a few certainly.

At long last, I got around to this project. I kept delaying it... weeks, months... I thought I was ready for some time, but I would either run out of free time or realize I was missing some component.
Much credit to dgneo, who provided some pointers given his experience assembling his own some time ago.

My very own Realforce 84u. I too hand-brushed the 86u plate (with fine grit sandpaper) and polished it with compound as it had plenty of rust and blemishes, cleaned all the caps, sliders, slider housings, as well as the case (still has some visible wear). With the new Realforce R2 TKL being out, I thought this would be a nice homage to the old-school Realforce look. Decorated now with an autumn-themed look.

Its specs:
  • Top housing: Realforce 89 (ND0100) - with blockers .
  • Bottom housing: Realforce 86u - it had fewer defects than the original 89, which had suffered some damage before I owned it.
  • 86u original variable weight Topre domes.
  • Sliders silenced with KBDfans Silence-X rings.
  • Lubed with Tribosys 3203 (non-stabilized keys) and Krytox 205g0 (stabilized keys).
  • Custom cable by Zap Cables, with a detachable aviator-style end for portability.

Typing test here.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

These indeed are OEM. I also had to look for a while and struck some good luck when I found them through another enthusiast! Very pleased to have a splash of color on my Topre boards.
