[TMK] Shipping from Japan
« on: Wed, 01 April 2020, 19:46:16 »
All information on this post is the latest and updated immediately when the situation is changed. TMK items are shipped from Tokyo, Japan.

Make sure to let me know YOUR LOCATION(country) when you email me.
If you are located in the US, Canada or Australia you have to choose shipping method you prefer(Yamato, FedEx or Airmail) also. See 'Altenative shipping methods' below for details. For other most countries 'Japan Post ePacket' shipping will be used by default.

Japan Post ePacket
This is normal shipping method I've used, cheap and reasonable delivery date.

Rates: 8USD per order
Days: usually 5-20 days in normal situation (depends on countries)

I currently drop off packets at local post office only once a week, it takes up to 7 days to ship out.
Notice that unforeseeable delay is expected due to flight restriction and impact of the pandemic at this time. Also check 'Delivery Situations' below.

Tracking number is available for all orders and mail lost or damage will be covered by Japan Post or me basically. Though, what we can do against the delay is nothing but waiting, you will have to be patient under the circumstances.

For other countries you can check in this page.
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/information/overview_en.html

If it is marked as 'X' in 'Parcels Air' column it is not available for your country at this time.
For example it is available for China and Korea but not for USA as this pic shows.

Some countries for whilch Japan Post ePacket is not available:
Japan Post ceased acceptance of international airmail for many destinations due to COVID-2019 pandemic.

Japan Post ePacket is not currently available for these countries for example. You have to use 'Altenative shipping method' instead. See below.

- US
- Canada
- Australia
- Russia

Altenative shipping methods
These shipping methods are available instead of Japan Post ePacket.
With these carriers your order can be shipped out immediately(in a few day).

Ask me if you want to use one of these shipping methods for fast delivery.

1. Yamato(trackable and insured)
This can be shippped out in a few bussiness days.
    - US: 30USD, 5-6 days 11 days(2021-10-18), 12 days(2021-10-06), 10 days(2021-10-06), 7 days(2021-09-27), 4 days(2021-09-10), 4 days(2021-09-10)
    - Canada: 30USD 5-7 days(estimated) - Use FedEx or Airmail instead.

Yamato seems to forward to UPS outside of Japan, so it is virtually kind of 'UPS Worldwide Expedited' service(especially in the US). 2021-09-03

[Tracking]
You can trace your package here.
http://track.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/english/tracking
After your package leaves Japan you can find UPS tracking number as 'DeliveryTrackingNumber' in 'Detail' page of Yamato tracking site, and you can trace closely in your country.
https://www.ups.com/track?loc=en_US

Last week, part of packets to US posted between the end of March and early April seem to had flight finally after two months wait in Japan Post facility. Japan Post annonuced that acceptance of packet to the United States is suspended from April 24.

We have previously announced that considerable delivery delays can be expected for mail items destined to the United States due to the significant reduction and suspension of flights caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Although we have made every effort to secure speedy dispatch to the United States in cooperation with airline companies and the U.S. Postal Service, at present, we are unable to make any prospect for dispatching mail items to the United States because of the drastic decline in transportation performance due to the further significant reduction and suspension of flights.

Therefore, acceptance of various mail items destined to the United States will be temporarily suspended from April 24.

In addition, items which have already been accepted will be dispatched by remaining flights in order. Considering our present transportation performance, for example, it is estimated that up to four months or so will be needed for dispatching EMS. If you want items to be returned, please contact the post office where you mailed them.
I can't ship my products to US for a while now.

Japan Post just announced this.
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/information/2020/0409_03_en.html

April 9, 2020

As we have announced previously, the novel coronavirus pandemic has caused a global reduction of flights. Accordingly, acceptance of international mail items to some countries/territories is temporarily suspended and considerable delivery delays are expected for outbound mail items to other countries/territories.

Although mail items to the United States are currently being accepted, it is expected to take more than two weeks to load the items that have already been accepted on airplanes to that country due to the significant reduction and suspension of flights.

Therefore, we are trying our best to dispatch promptly as many postal items as possible to the United States, cooperating with airline companies and the postal operator in that country.

We sincerely apologize that delivery will take more time than usual. It would be appreciated if you would kindly understand this situation in advance.

They said nothing but situation for other countries seems to be same or worse, except for Korea and UK. The two countries still works well as usual as of now.

[2020-04-07]
Mails posted last week have already suffered from unusual delay in Japan before catching limited flight to its destination including US and Europe. And situation geting worse gradually here in Japan and international mail will need longer delivery time than usual inevitably.

Buyers from the United States,
Don't panic, please.
PayPal has 180-days window for refund and I'll keep my account with enough fund for all orders.

Let's see how it goes for a few more months. I'll contact Japan Post for return of mails if they don't leave and are still in Japan after that.

Thank you for your patience.

Thanks so much for the updates. :-) Was a little concerned seeing no movement in 7 weeks, (I'm in the US), but, with the estimate now being 4 months, I'm pleased that it's estimated to still come before Christmas  ^-^

Shipping to USA is still not possible, it is utterly uncertain when Japan Post resumes it. You can pre-order, though.

Most of mails posted before suspension are located in the US and handled by USPS bascially.  At this time 21 out of 28 were already delivered and took 2 month+. 3 are waiting for delivery and 4 are still stuck.

Preorders,
Thank you for your patience.

[2020-10-08]
US: Normal shipment(ePacket) for USA is still not available but Japan Post starts acceptance of 'Small Packets' for the country.
This is the first good indication for six months since April.

Thanks

4. Air mail without tracking and insurance
This is available only for US, Canada and Australia and takes up to 7 days to ship out.
    - US: 9USD, 2 weeks(2021-06-14)
    - Canada: 6USD, 2 weeks(2021-06-14)
    - Australia: 6USD, 2 weeks days(2021-06-14)
    - Not available for other countries.

Note that this has no insurance and tracking, I can't offer anything helpful in trouble.  You have to take all risks of delivery and will lose your money if you have trouble. Don't open a dispute on PayPal to compensate your loss, it just imposes on me instead.

I don't recommend but you can use this shipping method only if you understand and take all risks.
