[IC] SA Ectoplasm
« on: Wed, 01 August 2018, 11:02:46 »
Welcome to my Ghostbusters themed SA set interest check.

Of course once this all goes live i can't use any of the Ghostbusters stuff due to copyrights.

I am planning on doing split up of sets right now, and will have some novelties (WIP).

Kits is as followed:
- Alphas
- Mods
- Num Pad
- 40%/Ortholinear
- Ergo
- colevrak
- NordeUK
- Space Bars (6u/7u/Shift sizes)
- Community
- VIM
- Novelties

Profile SA (lets get this figured out)

Set will be produced by SP, still working on vendor right now.

Here is the picture that I have based this whole set on, a set of figures by Sideshow Toys that i wanted to pick up years ago.

And now the set (credit to thesiscamper for the renders)

Breakdown of the kits: I know i'm missing some items and some kits have a lot of extras. But please continue to let me know what you'd like to see.

This is sweet! I'm an 80's kid so you had my attention with the name "SA Ectoplasm", but after seeing the renders I feel like this a must have set for me! You definitely nailed the colors & it looks great IMO. I know you're gonna have to be careful with copyrights making this set, I gotta ask though, any chance of a Slimer (movie Slimer, not cartoon Slimer) novelty cap?

Slimer is on the books to be a novelty. I have some fun ideas, but again, just working on making sure none of them hit those copyrights.

That’s a good design but doesn’t scream Ghostbusters or Ectoplasm to me, a bit too muted for my taste.

I love the muted military look, you can combine this kit with pretty much any light or green-grey case.

I think this colorway either needs custom mods that are specific to the theme (like the github mods in Oblivion), or the colors would lend well to mixing multiple themes into the novelties (same way that Troubled Minds and EVA01 are one colorway)

I really dig the idea and the way you sourced the palette. I feel like the black doesn’t ait in well when it’s used in such a small area, especially when that’s the only hit of red.. i dig that you got it from the  red name on black in their uniforms, but that black is balanced against the bulky black tech gear. I’m trying to think how to crack it. Mainly it needs more presence, like a black numbad to balance it, or black and green alternating f row blocks. I really like what you’re going for with it.

I'd like to see a 1.25u and/or 1.5u Caps Lock key, for those of us who switch the caps and control. sets always have a 1.75u control key, but never a 1.25 or 1.5u caps lock to go with it.

It's rare but it included a 1.25u "SHIFT LOCK" in Jukebox R2 non-standard kit. I guess its absence is due to the numerous variants and corresponding cost raised for all variants. It usually sits on the 1.75 R3 position for "CAPS LOCK" and "SHIFT LOCK". Once they are moved out, they could be out of the picture, which happens in 7u spacebar hhkb layout; they could be switched to the position of bottom row 1.25u, 1.5u, or even 1u. The later requires 3 more keys added for full coverage, which will raise the cost significantly.

Probably 112343 or 112344

Honestly there are other keysets in 312343 (Some of the more well known and sought after SA sets, like Pulse R1, Modern Selectric, or Hack'd), It's not an unheard of profile, just not as common as 112343 or 112344.

And that is where i was coming from when originally wanting to do that profile. I liked the older layout to those sets. But i also understand things change and i'll certainly think about changing it.

It's your set, so I'd say do what you want with it. But consider the possibility of just adding a compatibility kit that is just the F row in whichever row profile you decide not to make part of the base kit

I used to like 112344 until I realised that the SA spacebar(s) will still be R3 (unlike e.g. MT3 profile that has it sculptured in R4) until someone pays for new mould(s). So probably 112343?

It's your set, so I'd say do what you want with it. But consider the possibility of just adding a compatibility kit that is just the F row in whichever row profile you decide not to make part of the base kit

Interesting, would it be possible to also make it an all-green flex-kit? Unless it should be a separate kit.

OH, I just realized the space bar is not the same color as the alphas.  It's a light gray.  I guess that is a reference to the belts and elbow pads on the uniforms?
