[IC] Cherry MX Clear housing switches (RGB) !!UPDATE!!
« on: Fri, 13 March 2015, 11:25:18 »
I am currently speaking with a contact from ZF about ordering switches, I am working with them and soon I will get pricing information.

The MOQ for this is 48000 switches at .86 a switch.

http://goo.gl/forms/dDpFXWVpyE

From the email;

Quote
Cherry have 4 different color types of MX RGB switches:

red:       MX1A-L1NA
black:    MX1A-11NA
blue:     MX1A-E1NA
brown: MX1A-G1NA

Cherry also has with and without fixation pins. See part number difference below.

I am waiting on a reply to get price figures and MOQ numbers, so whilst waiting if you are interested please fill the form. Once/if I get samples I will take some close-up photos so you can see the difference between normal/clear housing.

Please note: There will be no clear stem switches in this group buy, sorry for the inconvenience.

If there is significant interest in PCB mounted switches, please let me know and I can add them as an option.

Here's the link to the form; http://goo.gl/forms/dDpFXWVpyE

UPDATE! -

I have obtained prices and MOQ figures, please see them below;

There have been a few threads about this exact thing already as well as 7bit over at Deskthority trying to get these just an FYI.

Hi, the person who was previously doing this couldnt do it, so I am taking over from him.

As for 7bit, as far as I can see, he has said that he isnt doing the clear case switches.

Aren't gateron switches pretty much just as functional as Cherry rgb?

They might be, but these are for cherry MX clear case switches that havent been on the market yet (as far as I can see)!

You should probably put a username part in the survey

When the numbers come in on rough prices/moq i will complete the survey. Don't want to inflate your IC without knowing the full information.

I was thinking that, but I dont want the end user to be discouraged when its only an initial interest check, I just wanted interest.

AFAIK MX RGBs are more transparent than Gaterons ...

MX RGB is less transparent than gateron. Unless I got part of a bad batch  :(

For all those who may be thinking to put cherry stems into Gateron switches, the actuation point is much earlier. Which may lead to mis clicking.

Alright. So essentially, Gaterons are of minor quality in comparison to Cherry MX switches, right?

No necessarily.  Many rate gaterons as the same; if not  better than Cherry. Long term durability however, is assofar unproven.

This may be a silly question but how would you control the color variations? I would love to build a RGB board but without a method by which to utilize it, what's the point?

That's what I am thinking as well. I would like to build my own RGB keyboard but I don't know of any PCB compatible with per key RGB LED.

On a side note does anyone know what RGB LEDs does Corsair use? I have tried searching but all I've come across are too large to fit under a switch.
