[ENDED] Model M 1391401 with 1393464 (air reservation) keys
« on: Wed, 04 July 2018, 19:50:55 »
This isn't a particularly cheap deal, but it is unusual—and maybe someone wants these lesser-known (and quite fun, IMHO) keys enough to be interested:

IBM Model M 101 Keyboard 1391401 16DEC1987 CLICKEY BUCKLING SPRING PS2 W CABLE

It's a standard p/n 1391401, but for some reason it has the special air-reservation keys designed for p/n 1393464. It would've work the same, of course—so I'm guessing it was used in a travel agency, and maybe someone transferred the keys to it from a '3464 that went toes-up.

'3464s also occasionally appear with standard keys. Let's face it: This vintage-keeb stuff can be a thorny, disorienting jungle of a hobby. We're up to the task, though, given sufficient coffee. I'm just saying.

I really like the special keys that randomly come with Model M's. I have this one already though along with various others oddballs yet I still have plenty of gaps in the collection.

I got a nice condition one of these recently from '88 as my first non-unicomp model M (1393464). Really like it.

The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you.

...with a link that points to a crappy NMB RT6856TW. As if these two are anything alike! The ignorant masses!

It wouldn't be so bad if they actually pointed you to a similar item. However, as there aren't too many 1391401s with 1393464 keys, I suppose they had to point to something else—like, you know, a 1974 Camaro fan belt.

But beyond just that, it makes it hard to look at an actual listing or sold listing for an item.  And if you're not checking carefully and they do find something similar enough, you actually end up looking at the wrong item.
