Probably a newb question: "icon" keycaps?
« on: Sun, 28 October 2018, 18:54:26 »
Just bought my first board: The Ducky Year of the Dog board.  http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/page-en/DKYOTD2018/

Real happy with it, now I'd like to customize the keys a bit.  I'm looking for a set of "icon" keycaps of common functions: with icons of "magnifying glass", "volume up", etc.  Not even sure what to search for with something like that.  Ideas?

You'd either want to find novelties or artisans. I don't think you'll be able to find novelties for this specific keyset though

Welcome to Geekhack!

If you want backlight-friendly novelty keycaps, Max Keyboard has a few: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/products/cherry-mx-keycap/backlight-novelty-keycap/

WASD has some non-backlit ones, but they used to be a bit thinner than some: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keycap-mod-packs.html

PMK has a few: https://pimpmykeyboard.com/novelty/

KeyPop also has a selection: http://www.keypop.net/
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
