Hm, this is a new gasket system which honestly has me a bit skeptical. I'm curious to know what the purpose of it is in between the plate and pcb if the case is trey mount and whether or not it makes a real difference. Between the three or four notable gasket mount boards that have been produced each has used a different design, so I am excited to see more people trying their hand at it.
The screws (the tray bit) holds the PCB down, compressing the o-ring. So when you type, the downward force goes through the o-ring. When typing stops, the compressed o-ring pushes things back up, and the screws stop it from popping up. It's more gasket than tray.

Based on how I understand how this whole gasket-tray mount works, I think any plate will work (assuming it's the usual 60% tray mount in size and mounting points). What won't work is the PCB as the UNIKORN PCB will have semi-circle cutouts in specific places so that the gasket can rest around "pillars" around the inner edge of the case.

First off, we'd like to apologise for the delay of this much needed Update.
The boards are now in production, and I will be updating regularly through email, discord and GH with production pics.
1. We're experiencing a delay in delivery due to 2 reasons:
a) Materials took awhile to reach the factory, we were sourcing the right batch of aluminium, which plays a large factor in producing good texture and colour when anodizing.
b) the holidays did not help
2. We're looking at a estimated production finish date of 20th March which pushes the GB into an April delivery date. I am unable to confirm what date in April, but hopefully mid April.
3. Shipping can be purchased at a later time, closer to delivery dates through the website.

Gateron Inks are really pretty, but you just can't make them silky smooth like black bottom tangerines, and they also need a spring swap. Zeal v2s are just too tactile for me, even though I use them on a zero degree board and they feel better. I already have builds with every iteration of holy this and that. I honestly think I'm putting lubed kailh browns in this thing. WHY DO I LIKE THEM SO MUCH?

The spring is too heavy for my taste once they are lubed. Similar to a cherry black. I prefer something just a bit lighter. They're not bad scratchy, but just not as smooth as the black bottom/milky top gaterons, or tealios, or tangerines

Mine has a few blemishes as well, silver showing through on the black, but all except one are on the inside edge where I doubt I'll ever see them. A bit bummed about the other one that I can see, but I'll just put a dab of black marker on it and call it a day. I'm more concerned with how to put the darn thing together.

I feel a bit silly here. Are we sure this pcb goes in this case? Is the gasket perhaps supposed to sit under the pcb? My pcb and case don’t seem to get along. Am I missing something? The standoffs are like 2mm tall... that can't be right. Grrr. HALP. I ARE DUMB
The PCB shouldn't touch the case. Gasket should be wrapped around the switches between the plate and PCB.

I haven’t fully built it, but I can’t see it fitting in the case because of the way the gasket sticks out around the backspace and space bar stabilizers. What are the standoffs and screws for if you don’t use them? Why are they so short?
I can't speak to the gasket, but based on the case design I think you have to use the screws and standoffs to secure the plate. It's tray-mounted.
EDIT: I can say from assembling my gasket board, the gaskets tend to "bunch up" in some areas. You may need to pull/stretch it around so that it is tighter (and thinner) in some spots and more slack/thicker in others. I don't have one of these so I can't say for sure if that's the case here, though.

I haven’t fully built it, but I can’t see it fitting in the case because of the way the gasket sticks out around the backspace and space bar stabilizers. What are the standoffs and screws for if you don’t use them? Why are they so short?

The mini usb connector hits the bottom of the case before the pcb reaches the standoffs. Hard to explain unless you have it in hand. Also, the gasket sticks out too far because of the stabilizers- the top of the stabilizers take up that space between the plate and PCB where the gasket should run
I want so badly to build one of these now, lol.
Check out the pictures in the OP. The PCB isn't supposed to reach the standoffs, based on those renders. The plate rests on the gasket which rests on the pillars along the front and back of the case. Screws down through the plate to the standoffs and compresses the gasket.
The gasket around the stabs seem like either a problem with bunching of the gasket, or something else. Seems hard to have overlooked that during the design/prototyping phase.

It’s supposed to be a super tight fit. So it might need to be forced/pressed into the tray shelves. The holes at the bottom of the case (remove weight) are to be able to push the plate/pcb out.

Yep, the plan is to compare tactile to linear. Although I can tell you from previous experience that tactile feel really nice on gasket mount. The only switch that I’ve used that didn’t benefit from mounting style was Clicky (box pink)

I used snap in stabs and no screws anywhere. Gasket fit perfect and guts are super snug. Assembled Tangies w/brass plate and GMK and it feels really lovely. A very pleasantly absorbed bottom out feel and a satisfying sound to it. Really love it so far. Looking forward to building with aluminium plate as well.

The build method has been described in the thread already. It will make a lot more sense when you build it yourself. It types nothing like a tray mount since it doesn't mount like a tray mount, and the gasket makes for a great typing experience.

I used snap-in stabs. The guts had just lifted up a bit in those pics, it doesn't look like that usually but I do find myself giving it a good push down whenever I use it just to make sure it's still seated properly.

@pixelpusher I would use the LAYOUT_all layout and fill it up with your given layout. Ignore keys that don't exist, and guess on which positions keys should be. If they work on your physical keyboard, please send me the json.

It's already been converted =).I just did it two messages up.
All you need to do is flash the resulting QMK hex file onto your board using the suggested methods outlined in the README.

Unikorn seems to ship with a 50 Duro Silicone Oring, probably a 262 or 261 (I bought a 263, which is slightly bigger than stock, and a 259 which is much smaller than stock).
Replacements can be 50 or 70 Duro, 262 size or a little smaller. I also bought a 259 50 Duro Silicone oring; it tested fine. (It did stretch more but I didn't notice a difference in feel.)
Oring vs xring doesn't seem to be significant.
Plate probably contributes more to feel than what kind of oring. (Though having an oring mount obviously contributes significantly.). My plate was the stock brass one.
Note that higher Durometer ("Duro") is firmer. Also note Durometer has different scales. 90A is softer than 50D (the bigger letter is a harder scale).
90A Duro doesn't stretch much, so I'd avoid that.
Note on the sizes: I'm using the "dash" number, which is an American Industry thing (well, I mean, it's not metric). Actual size is 1/8in cross section, 7in Inner Diameter (or so).

Yep it already happened. It was more of a reorder due to the previous manufacturer problems and so a few diff colors like velvet were done to fulfill the original GB orders.Is there going to be another round of this?There is a unikorn R2 in singakbd.. or was this the 2nd run already?
