Ugh I think I need one of these

Before I pull the trigger I've got some questions because I'm a total MX noob, I'm sure a lot of these have been answered already so I apologize in advance:

What PBT keycap sets come with a short right shift so I could replicate a HHKB layout?

Is this stab kit sufficient for the Viper?

Any pics of the red anodization?

The keycaps can be found on old cherry 1800 boards, or tsangan kits.

The stabs are fine. You'll have to decide if you want a 7x spacebar or standard size.

I think you can see an example of red anodization on one of the other boards, orion or kingsaver, not sure.

Awesome, thank you. Looks like I'm in on round 2 (I assume there's still room in round 2?) for a black Viper.

Hmm anyone in the socal area want to build together? I'll need the help/guidance... Lunch will be on me.

That's actually a great idea, never thought of this

If anyone can assist me with the same request but from the Wisconsin Stevens point area it would be super awesome though I highly doubt anyone from my small town even knows of GH

not sure since it only says wisconsin =) Milwaukee is quite far too but hey, it seems there are many people willing to help out anyways. Btw when soldering everything together, I'm thinking of using a lead free solder since I have a baby and I get paranoid about the lead part.

Will it make much of a difference or would you guys still recommend a solder with lead in it? What size of solder should I use if I use one that has no lead?

I sent you a friend request :P

Sure thing.  :)  I might not have the most desk space to support two simultaneous builds, but I'm sure we can work something out.   :thumb:

I spent all day Saturday making these.  62g ergo clears lubed with blue stickers and sip sockets so I can hot swap LEDs on a whim.

Nice work! I also ordered brown switches today to make some 60g browns. Not sure if I should add SIP sockets though. I usually don't swap LEDs but I guess it can't hurt.

What are sip pockets? What kind of lube did you use? Would I be able to do what you did with a regular cherry clear switch and some 62g springs? Sorry for all the questions.

Does the color from anodizing scratch of overtime including on the black case? I was curious because if it does, I will switchmy blue-gray to a plain silver instead.

Thanks, Fnzzy! I think you'll be happy in the long run if you add the sip sockets. Otherwise, you would have to desolder the led just to open the switch again. Not that anyone plans on opening the switch again after its mounted and soldered but if you have to its convenient. As for making the sip fit in the switch it took some filing down of the plastic edges which was the least favorite part of assembling the switches for sure.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the sip sockets from their housing?

I know a lot of people do that, but then they just jangle around in the switch until they are soldered.  I'm sure that would work too, but I decided to keep the plastic housing so they would be aligned without having to be soldered into the PCB first.

I have temp leds that I cut the leads even and push them in the switch, solder the sip sockets in and remove them afterwards.

Well, that would probably save me some time assembling so maybe I'll give that a shot for the next set of SIPs. Thanks for the tip.

Updated everything needed for now. If I missed anything, let me know..

I suppose the 2nd batch can pay later.  I'd say 2 weeks after the 1st batch's deadline.  After the deadline, there can be NO changes to your order.  This is because they need to anodize the cases and the colours will be set once they start.  Address can be changed of course.

PMed you about combining an order for a couple of us in the Bay Area

Did you ever get around to fixing the invoices of those who were misscharged shipping?  I'd hate to see you lose money by organizing this GB.

I believe it was germany, canada, switzerland, and the netherlands orders that were undercharged going through the list.   I think james also posted a list earlier in the thread of the undercharged countries.  But you should double check yourself.

Thanks I'll deal with that.

As for the unpaid first batch orders, I'm going to cancel them and move the 2nd batch paid orders to the first batch. This will probably quicken the process and besides they had their chance to pay.

Jwaz: I'll hold off on you since you're combining your order with 2 others.

Strangely it was the opposite for me, it didn't show up in Paypal, I had to click the email link before it did. I assumed it was protection from letting people spam your Paypal inbox and trying to make it look official somehow.

BTW, there won't be any 2nd batches since there aren't much leftover from the main batch.  They are making enough and will be finished next week.  They will all be shipped together.

Also, the timeline they gave me for their shipping time is around mid September.
