Do you want suggestions also?
If so 'potato pic', that confuses many new people.
Cherry and OEM-profile, it was confusing when I joined I remember.
I'm NOT a fan of the shine discussion here. This should just explain what the phrases mean. Can we edit that out of ABS, PBT, and POM?
This list should be objective as possible and not be leading.
HPE1000, what other stuff do you have in mind? "Stuff" isn't as helpful as "Tsangan" or "Stabs". Suggestions are a good thing :D.:P I will think about it and post whenever something comes to mind, it is blank right now.
Cherry stabilizer-Looks like mini switches
Costar stabilizer-The metal bars
Doubleshot

I think those things need to be in the wiki, for sure, but a glossary would just be to explain confusing terms. Like stabs, as you said. And DS, when people mean double shot.

Should the entry for Tsangan etc. contain a description of its contents (ie. 1.5 Ctrl and Alt,...)?

Shouldn't we limit it on keyboard terms?
Diatec is a coportation that makes power supplies (http://www.diatec.co.jp/en/list.php?cate_c=2), PC peripherals (http://www.diatec.co.jp/en/list.php?cate_c=3), and keyboards under the brand name "Filco" (http://www.diatec.co.jp/en/list.php?cate_c=1).
Diatec info page (http://www.diatec.co.jp/en/aboutus.php#DI)
Diatec is the coporation
Filco is the keyboard brand name.
Just like how Kimberly-Clark sells tissue paper under their brand name "Kleenex".
And should we rename this to GeekHack Glossary? Or do we think Dictionary works?
Edit: Should the entry read "DT - Deskthority, another keyboard forum/community"? instead of "Deskthority [DT]?
Nice work with this thread. Thumbs up! :thumb:

That is so awesome!!!! Thanks bluebar!
I got a suggestion: There are several stores and other sites mentioned. Could you add a link to those sites? I mean... if you get the information about something you were looking for and then have to look for a link somewhere else seems like a hassle ;) (even if it might be as trivial as using a search engine).
It could also be a link inside the forum such as the "all keycaps site list" thread: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=45672.0 (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=45672.0)
I think that there's already a great list of vendors showcased by the Keycaps thread and in /r/mech. We could point to those lists but I'm also not sure if this is the thread to do so.
Find a picture of the tsangan, moogle, and winkeyless kits that you think best illustrates them and I'll be happy to add them to the glossary Belfong.Ok, I'll look for them. Question: are we concerned about copyright? If yes, I'll ask the original poster for permission before we put in the glossary. I don't have any of these kits, unfortunately.
I make is a personal policy that all the pictures I post will have a link giving credit; check out this link (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=40501.msg1130782#msg1130782). You should give credit and then if you want, you can PM the OP. I usually just link without asking with the policy that if they ask me to take the picture down, I will.

Ok, are these good for glossary especially when you come into GH now when the GB are over: Miami, Hyperfuse, Round 4 and Round 5 and whatnot.
I'm still not sure what exactly is GON and IMSTO. Ha ha.

American slang for something shiny like jewelry. Not really keyboard related per se.
Should we add in TKL/75%/60%/40% here or should I add it to the OP of Simple Questions? I think there's some confusion. Do we need it at all?

Could be added why it is called 75% - has 75% the keys on a full-size board ...

It's already in the glossary. I don't mind it being in two places if you want to add it to the SQ thread, but I think it kinda fits in the glossary.

Not necessarily. People might assume it is 75% the physical case size, whereas it is actually based on the number of switches. Isn't it? LOL

OK I added a general note for percentages and changed 60% slightly since that is kind of an excpetion. I think this is a good compromise, please tell me what you think.
I also noted that "Tenkeyless [TKL, 80%]" = "A keyboard layout without a numpad." defines 80%, but 80% does not have its own entry at the top of the list.
What does NIB mean? New in box?
Added NIB.
Although that's not really something specific to GH - eBay sellers use it all the time.

That's where the name of the site comes from and what the name "Geekhack" means - the explanation of what "Geekhack" is, is this forum and its community. I don't think it fits to be honest. Compare it to the entries for Deskthority or KBDMania for example.
However maybe we should do a newki entry called "The History of Geekhack" - thats where it would fit perfectly. There's one on the old wiki but it just contains links to esoomena and the mystery keycap...
That's a good idea - the mystery keycaps, new moderators, r00tw0rm, perma-banned members, all that makes up GH folklore and should be recorded somewhere for posterity.

I'm not so sure about this one. I feel like the GH lore is part of getting to know the community. Seems to cheapen the experience if there's just a thread about all of the stories.
GID = Glow In the Dark
What about dibs? I see this mentioned often.. then googled it and found out its a slang!
What do I do now? Burn my only CC as a ritual to wash my sins off my soul?
I think that generic definition should be fine (although CC would have the last say). The main thing is not to say where dibs come from or what to do with them.

5. Scoops are just better than bars.
What are Scoops/Bars? Those aren't mentioned in the glossary.
Bars are short raised sections along the lower edge of the keycap.
Scoops are where the keycaps are dished slightly more than the other keys.
There are also nubs - small raised pimples usually in the centre of the keycap, although you're more likely to find those on the 5 key on a numeric keypad.

Isn't the word "Concave" more fitting for the definition? Again, I just discovered the keyboard world, maybe it makes sense to describe them as "spherical".
