What is best latest TKL keyboard kit I could buy?

phinix:
After few days of use, Linky87 developed some weird scratchy/squeeky noise in few mods.

So I bought Gem80 - when it came, it felt premium, heavy, well made. Sounded amazing, deep thicky sound, perfect.
But, for some reason after few days of use, again, few mods started to be scratchy.
Seriously, mods/stabs issue is driving me nuts.

I guess its time to go back to the roots - I have one brand new Tiger lite gaming keyboard I have not built yet, plsu two sets of stabs, TX I think.
Need to nail down those stabs perfectly.

HungerMechanic:
Be careful with that Tiger Lite. Mine has an F-row that won't secure switches. So the F-row is basically inoperative.

I think these budget kits, especially what's coming out in the last few months, might be compromising too much in order to keep the price down.

It may be why boards like the Neo80 are so popular. I don't hear about too many issues with them. I almost bought a second one during a recent sale.

As you say, it's important to stick with the fundamentals. If the stabilizers aren't tuned right, then it doesn't matter the cost of the board.

zegonix:
i sure have a huge problem with the neo and qwertykeys boards. they use proprietary firmware and an obfuscated chip (they removed the markings and replace them with their branding) so you can't just program your own firmware.
i for one, like to maintain my keymaps as plaintext, so i can version it using git. also i want to be able to flash my keyboard without using a mouse, so i want to be forced to use via(l)!

Basically, they seemed to be offering two major variants. A white keyboard with bluish-colours [Blue Honeywell and Blue / Orange] and a beige keyboard [Beige and Cream, Green].

So the 'beige' keyboard was supposed to be more retro. And this was the case on AliExpress as well. I was glad for the Blue Honeywell on the white one, as I've always wanted to try that. I think it corresponds to a GMK set.

I would prefer a black or blue keyboard, though, and none of the retailers offered a variant like that.

Probably avoided black in order to be 'different.' Most budget Chinese keyboards are black. So, offering white and beige options helps differentiate them. Gray would have been nice, however.

Right now, I am deciding between a Classic-TKL and a Neo80 cu for an MX Brown build. I can see the strengths of either, but the Neo80 cu costs 3x more.

Hey, now they have Sunset Black version too.

OK, test number.... 113.
Tomorrow new keyboard will be delivered - Nuphy Node 100 (low profile, beige version).
I hope mods on that will be ok. However, it is kinda messed up full size cause cursor cluster is moved :(
I hope that those red switches going to be heavy enoughf or me. I wonder if low profile needs lighter spring for same result as standard profile.
