Hi! I'm not new to mechanical keyboards, but only because I'm old enough to have been there for their first go-round.
Used to keep an Apple Extended Keyboard (and several backups) as my daily driver (Alps orange 4 LYFE), but as my shoulder got injured a couple of years ago, I'd moved to a Microsoft Sculpt Ergo (scissors, bleh) which made my shoulders happy — but my fingers, not so much.
After trying a ZSA Moonlander and deciding it was not for me (nice clacky, but too much chording and macros for “normal” things), and also encountering some annoying issues between my Ergo and a new KVM switch, I decided to order a Keychron Q11 split ergo and a bunch of Drop + Blip MT3 Extended 2048 caps (to echo my beloved old AEKs), and am currently eagerly awaiting their arrival.
In the last week or so, I've gone distressingly fast from “whelp I guess I need to get a new keyboard” to “I wonder what it would take to design, manufacture, and market a complete set of custom caps?” so, uh… Hi!
