Keyboard Advice

Hi, I'm looking for a minimalist sober mechanical keyboard, any help would be appreciated

Most advice online is basically "bloat and more colors = better". I want the exact opposite of that, I might have bad taste.

- I NEED a firmware solution to keybindings (swapping escape with caps) VidMate   .

- I never use any key more on the right than "enter", so I'd appreciate it not being there at all (no del, no numpad, no arrow keys) less = more.

- I really don't care about lighting, and I systematically turn it off.

- Bonus points for the black keys without symbols (but really I don't care, it's just fancy)

personally i like modes offerings. their designs are somewhat minimal and streamlined, also the two keyboards i got from them are good quality.

What's your opinion on the F1 to F12 keys?  If you don't need them, your requirements would be met by a "60%" with QMK/VIA compatibility, which are very popular and easy to find in the hobbyist space.  If you do need the F-row, a "75%" usually only goes one farther to the right than the Enter key.  Keychron is usually a safe recommendation, and they have 60% boards at several price-points.  Blank black keycaps can be found on Amazon or Aliexpress quite cheap.

The next step is figuring out what you want the board to feel and sound like, if you've thought about it.

true keychron is a good start. their offerings are very affordable and decent enough, just keep in mind, that even the Q series does not reach the quality of a <insert your trusted keyboard manufacturer here>. not sure if that is still true, but last time i checked not all keychron boards were qmk compatible, so make sure to check that. the V & C series seemed pretty good starting points though.

Hi, same question I want to find keyboard that have soft key presses so I can use it at home. Anyone have some suggestion?

just use silent switches. they are inherently soft, due to the rubber pads.
