These early prototypes will sell for a fortune in a few years ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I've had to cast a few molds from the model and it finally broke

The fingers came off as I was removin it from the silicon

Now get this... the resulting mold is perfect EXCEPT when I poured a cast the resin did not set up properly, and how my hands have a fresh coat of resin. :)

sadly there are bubbles and they show more when there is an LED underneath :(  I think the lavender one is the most solid I've ever gotten.  It might have voids as well, and really it is all a huge headache to get rid of all of them.

The look of this cap is a result of the last hand-e-cap mold that will ever be made.

The original hand-e-cap is gone and destroyed... it bit the dust.  As long as this mold survives more hand-e-caps can be made :)

I'll tell you this particular mold has 12 drainage points  and it takes a lot more finishing work to look good :(

That is a sculpture of the new V2 hand-e-cap.  The first version was destroyed in a freak mold-making accident.  Twas a sad day.

The color that you are seeing is the natural color of the sculpting polymer.

I found Ol' Greg, that's about it. That kind of cap deserves to be on a keychain and showed to the public every bloody day! BINGE! You've impressed me and others I know that don't even care about key caps!
