These are my major 2017 goals:

1. Paint the top case frame of my second Topre RealForce RGB board white.

2. Acquire a white Varmilo VA108M with MX Silent Red (aka pink) switches.

Decide which of the two I like better as my daily driver (for work) and put Round 6 Space Cadet keycaps on it.

3. Get G20 Semiotic into production (it is in the prototyping phase over at SP at the moment).

4. Wait for Round 6 phase 2 to go into production.

5. Wait for LightCycle DSA to go back into GB and then into production. (I have a KBP V60 mini in desperate need of this set.)

6. Wait for SA Dasher/Dancer to go into production (currently taking orders over at MassDrop until 12/27/16).

7. Try to pull together a killer Hermes Rocketeer (which may have to be renamed Mercury Rocketeer) group buy bundle for MassDrop.

Put the Keyboardio Model 01 into good use, as my daily driver.

And also introduce my mother to the wonderful world of mechanical keyboards. With a split one, of course, on her request.

boards -
white hhkb type-s
RAMABAE65
Revo HHKB
VE.A
banana split
minivan
whitefox (truefox layout)
TGR-910

if I can grab even a few of these next year that would be fun.

for caps -
GMK SNES, Laser, Adventure Night, little garden - all look like sets I want to grab if they happen.

for artisans -
keep up on nubs, binge, boops, kk, aero, suited, krap, jelly, KF, nightcps and hkp
but maybe dial it back a bit and just enter for 1 each time.

Save money for custom keyboard.

Already decided on parts, layout and keycap choices...

Procrastinate on all my projects.
Buy more keyboard parts that I never use.
Maybe tinker with a keyboard design I have, but never finish it.
Get super-focused on coding over-engineered firmware for a couple of weeks, doing nothing else, and then leave it.

I.e. like this year.

Edit:
Looking forward to receiving and testing out a Wooting One keyboard and Zealencios silencing clips, that I have on order.
Edit 2: Both above received. Using Zealencios. Not that much of a difference in my otherwise loud keyboard.

Two 75% boards are in my future (TX-75 and another). For the TX-75 I'm thinking I'll use 78g zealios as that board will likely end up being my daily. For the second, I'm tossing around the idea of something loud and clicky... gateron blues have been on my list for awhile...

After these two boards I definitely need to take a break for buying sh**; my savings really resents me at this point.

Sell everything I don't use so I can have money to build a TKL custom probably.

Write up details of all the things I've done to my Mini.

#1 Finish up existing projects before starting any new ones.

#7 Another run of GH-36, with bugs fixed (GH-36.2017), hopefully with a case this time.
#8 GH-122 "wide-body" 24x5 keyboard, possibly in that Chinese Alps IBM case.
#9 Another run of GH-122, with bugs fixed (GH-122.2017), hopefully with a universal plate and maybe a case this time.
#10 Experiment with running the Soarer converter code on a Teensy++ to see if more memory allows more macros.

Can you add a clicker to a soarer converter?  I got the idea last night and played around with an arduino and speaker, but it's not quite sounding what I want it to sound liek

Beyond my skills, man.  i program with solder.  Or SQL.  Neither are helpful for that project.

I plan on continuing to use my HHKB. I did join the MassDrop for a 60% XMIT so I'll give that a shot, but I imagine I'll stick with the HHKB. I wouldn't mind a good Cherry 60% too. I love my Leopold 660M, but it is a little longer than I'd prefer. I think that's about it.

Unless I see some really exciting stuff I feel like the HHKB will be my endgame for quite a long time. At the very least I'm set on sticking with 60%. They've  got everything I need for work and home use. And gaming.

1: Decide whether to buy a Unicomp Classic (Spanish ISO) or a Filco Majestouch 2 (ANSI).
2: If I choose the Filco, decide if it's worth the money or I should consider a clone such as the Vortex G104, the Rosewill RK-9000 or the CM Storm Quickfire XT
3: Decide a kind of switch for it.
4: Find a set of thick PBT keycaps for this keyboard, which can be ordered from Europe without killing shipping costs.

1. Finish building my VE.A; currently it's waiting for some MOD-H's to ship, but I already have my hotlites, keycaps, stickers, rubber dampeners, stabilizers (shipped), MX locks (shipped) and cable (thinking of replacing).

2. Start working on an HHKB portable endgame. This is going to be more of a longer term thing, but with RAMA working on a case, I'm planning on getting an HHKB, a hasu controller, 55g domes, MX compatible stems. I don't even know what caps I would want on it. I'm a little burnt out on caring for keycap sets.

3. Start designing my own entirely custom keyboard. I have so many grand ideas for how I want my first two custom boards to work but I haven't followed up on them at all in 2016. I think by this time next year I would want to have already designed at least the weight distribution of all the switches.

4. Keep searching for a Model M from my birthdate (1991).

Easier to split it into 2 categories, but otherwise there is quite a lot to get through! Tried to put it into chronological order, but it's difficult for most.

Personal:
  • Figure out which MX switch is my favorite using X60s
  • Build 910
  • Build X60
  • More Boopers, Bros, and maybe a couple ETFs/KWKs
  • GMK Deep Space/GMK SNES/GMK Plum
  • Gain enough confidence to take my Type-S apart and lube it
  • Try purple sliders in a HHKB
  • Make my own TKL at one point

Noxary:
  • Launch my store
  • Learn how to make PCBs and be free
  • Release X65/X75/T60/N60 throughout the year
  • Play around with diffusers in designs

Oh and I'm also to comment on my previous post -

Really hoping to get a HHKB BT with lubed rails and purple sliders. I'm very excited for my custom (X60) to be in my hands which will be HHKB layout with lubed/stickered linears.

I also want to double my Reaper Classic collection from 8 to 16 (currently up to 11 with trades). Keyset wise, GMK Hyperfuse and perhaps a SA set to see how that feels (mainly Carbon, Jukebox or Danger Zone.

I got a HHKBT, never did the mods. I did X60, just getting through the group buy now. I got to 20+ reaper classics and got bored so sold them all to someone. I got GMK HF, tried SA (and sold within the hour).

So the only thing that remains is modding a HHKB. Hmm...

1. wait for Banana Split 60% PCB
2. build 2 boards (1 for home - clicky switch, 1 for work - tactile/linear switch)
3. grab G20 Semiotic and GMK Black Lotus and, maybe, XDA Milestone (R2)
4. build a hand-wired "one-hand-keyboard" (it's like left-half of 60%) and find a way to make a PCB for it.

that's all for now ;D

let's see, i'm already at end-game with 75% as i have my ergo pro and ve.a already.
i guess;
-GMK Plum/Nautilus.. decisions to be made.
-try to look for a fullsize keyboard with left numpad (another run of LZ RV will be amazing) this will be my fullsize end-game with cherry-stotle switches.
-as for 60%.... HHKB case from RAMA might make me buy HHKB again.

pretty much i'm gonna be so finished for keyboards at 2017. maybe not gonna stop at keycaps, but pretty much for the keyboard.

1. Getting the K-Type, not sure what switches will be on offer since they are very mum about it. My personal preference is linear > tactile and never clicky
2. Getting a pack of the Cherry MX Silent RGB Black (recently announced, part #MX3A-11NA) and hot-swap them in the K-type should it not have linear switch option in the first place
3. Waiting for my Zealencio clips order to be fulfilled, the quest for total silent :)
4. GMK Nautilus, the set is just beautiful and eye-catching, head-turning colour combination with the yellow spacebar
5. GMK Black Lotus, because Purple y'all!  :p

My plans are simple, get a case for my Phantom that I built like 2 years ago or more and just never got a case for. I'm a simple man with simple goals. And I guess to try my luck at any clack sale that comes up. Win or lose, it's just plain ol' fun!

  • Lightcycle- should be fun to swap something not-grey onto my SGI 60%
  • Model MF- when it finally comes, I have a case to cut for it. It'll be a lot easier than my last time
  • Back to MX- I left MX this year entirely, as the tactile switches just don't do it for me. But, I'm coming back for some Gat Blacks in a 60%. We'll see how I like it.
  • Topre?- I miiiight try for a Topre board, but I don't know. Loved the Realforce, but I might hold off until next year.

I am going to try and focus less on Artisans and more on boards and building equipment. Hopefully I a going to build my first board in a couple of months. Just got an MX HHKB layout 60% and I love it. It has gotten me excited and it has a couple imperfections that I need to work on.

Well in 2015 I said goodbye to my Model M and switched to a $25 AULA  Mechanical Demon Lord. Been great since then and plenty happy with my knockoff Cherry switches in that....

It rarely, but occasionally started adding an extra key that wasn't pressed. So I took the opportunity to upgrade to a Happy Hacking Lite2 last month....

Which ended up having a bad "L" key and I just returned it. So I bought a QSENN board after remembering they exist, and I guess that's really the start of my 2017 plans, since I didn't expect the HHKB to be faulty.

Anyway, now that I got the HHKB, I'm learning what I've been missing by not having a traditional Caps Lock button where it is. The Command button there on the HHKB was great. But I did not like how after a month of use I can barely find the backspace key on any other keyboard.

I will probably get accustomed to a normal size keyboard again and make use of the QSENN. Time will tell if I get a HHKB Pro with real Topre switches, which is what I'd be ultimately interested in. However, I also learned how much of a pain a tenkeyless can be, and something even farther reduced like the HHKB can be a little too minimal at times. I have to use the F keys a lot, so it gets old having to hold FN all the time.

I have to admit I have a weakness for a good scissor switch board.

Edit: i do have to admit i regret getting rid of the model M but i also did not know people were modding them into modern designs!

Design a keyboard myself, but never have it made because I'm in Germany and would have to start a real legit business with all the paperwork and taxes and no more health insurance benefits for university students for that.

Spend waaay too much money on stuff I already know I l will never sell again, because it is just too cool to not have.

Get a TGR-910CE (I NEED ONE)

Maybe one of ellipse's F's... but some Korean guy made me spend all my money already... so I might not be able to

RAMABAE65... same as above though

Buy my first SA set (if it is in a GB I'll maybe have it by christmas 2017)

A LOT MORE, because I know that there will be stuff that will launch out of the blue and rape my wallet.

The way I understood it I need a business as soon as I start moving money for anything other than private sales (and I doubt that ~50 units of a custom product still fit into that). There is the Kleingewerberegelung, which would make everything very easy for me, but I ran the numbers... If I do one run of 50 units for 350 euros each (including shipping) I'm at exactly the limit of how much money I can move around before having to do the full paperwork, taxes and all that jazz. It is possible but kind of a pita, because I had to do everything in one run, meaning if something goes wrong it goes wrong with a lot of money on the table, but if I do a test run of something else (like a sandwich version of it, so test small quantity production of the PCB) I would limit the main buy a lot.

Either way my "design" isn't even close to done, I'm still finalizing the layout and trying to fix my Autodesk Fusion Account which still isn't activated even though I entered all my stuff around 30 times now.
This is in no means anything concrete yet... in fact this is barely a thought of "what if?". I have barely any experience with CAD programs, I have zero experience with PCB's and I doubt that my Java knowledge helps me a lot on the firmware side either.
If you are still interested after reading this I'll gladly message you  :)

0) Finish that OG FSSK when I get the springs (springs should arrive next week, so technically it should be done before 2017 begins)
1) Get the damn beamspring already
2) Get me that Displaywrite SSK keycap I'm missing
3) Get rid of all the stuff I don't need, and make some room

I have some 40 springs in it already, which was enough for alphas, and some other key position needed to test all the rows/columns. And yes, it is _loud_. To anyone else wondering, regular model Fs sound quite reasonable in comparison :)

1) Sell the stuff that I'm not using / not enjoying.
2) Endgame attempt: 75% preferably with a gap between the numbers and the F's, SKCM White, Wood case, hand wired, DSA Lightcycle.
3) Persuade my wife that this hobby isn't completely retarded.

So many mixed feelings...

I am waiting on Zealios, Aristotles and gold stabilisers to put together my Lightsaver V2 that I picked up in October from the Hoff. Also waiting on GMK Hydro to potentially go on said Lightsaver.

Then I will be consolidating my collection. Selling as many of my stock boards as possible, getting some money so I can put together my OG Dolch 1800 and sort out the build to go inside it's PAC.

Then probably selling more stuff. No new purchases for me in the new year, I'm going to try and focus on Keyboard of the Month, and get a nice trophy for the KOTY winner though, one of those internally laser engraved glass thingys.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

1. Build up the RS II+ that came today with Zeal 65's
2. Build custom mahogany case for said RS
3. Deck it out with 1965 when that drops
4. Be content for 2017-???
