What I don't get is, it's basically a split Model M2, and everyone knows how relatively crappy they are... So what's the deal? Rarity hysteria? The "I have one and you don't" thing?
Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number... But when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us. – President The Donald, Sun City, Iowa, 07/01/17

It must be awfully funny when a thrift store in Shoetree, Iowa puts something like this online expecting to get a few bucks for it, not realizing how many peeps are out there with rarity fixations, rich parents, and little interest in philanthropy.

Well this sold for US $1,260.70! Not too surprising given the starting bid. At that price I would consider emptying my warehouse of these  ;D

Holy cow! So what do you do after paying over $1200 for a NIB keyboard? Open it? Just look at the box?

Yes, and you moan, "My Precious...", and drool somewhat.

Ah, actually, I did up something like that and posted it here a couple of years ago (it's just a 1390120—but it's all relative, huh?):
