Unique IBM Keyboard on eBay
« on: Wed, 07 June 2017, 22:14:52 »
I have never seen anything similar to this keyboard.  Looks to be manufactured by IBM with some type of terminal application in mind. Hopefully someone else knows what this is as I would love to hear it.

$299 is a bit steep though

Think I've seen one of these for sale at one point.  Looks like a replacement keyboard almost for something similar to a wheelwriter with that "code" key there next to the spacebar.  I don't think that it is a Model F though given the plastic rivets.  Probably is an M.  Looks interesting, but wouldn't pay more than two figures for it personally.  We'll see if anyone thinks it's worth that here in the next 10 days I guess :)

I agree that the code key puts it right into the wheelwriter category. Membrane buckling spring seems most likely.

You can see the two ribbons underneath the vents in the top of the keyboard. It's almost certainly a Model M.

[Edit: It's also got an SDL connector which would be odd for a Model F, although wouldn't prove anything other than just being odd]

I seen this as well. Definitely an early Model M. The price seems a bit high in my opinion.

Thank you for posting this, its definitely not a great find in terms of price. It just piqued my interest and I couldn't find any further information on it; there are always others more knowledgeable on the forums!

I am glad someone found what this went to. It seems like at this price you would get the rest of the wheelwriter system :) Still a neat find.

The 80's looked glorious.  Now we are all just mad because the lack of awesome new IBM keyboards and computers.

Thanks for sharing that.  It was really fun to watch.
