How to make sure switches are flush to PCB
« on: Sun, 23 July 2017, 11:31:28 »
Hi, all -- newbie question here!  What's the best way to make sure the switches are flush with the PCB when soldering?  I'm using plate-mount zealios and Pandas with Satan GH60 and finding the switches lift off the PCB a little bit because the peg is a little fat for the hole.  I used one of those giant paper-clip thingies which seemed to work but doesn't seem healthy for the PCB.  I don't seem to have the dexterity to use my hands to do it while soldering.  Doesn't seem like an alligator clip would be strong enough.

When I'm in doubt, I solder one switch's pin to the PCB then, while reflowing the solder, I push the switch down until I'm sure it's sitting properly, finally I take the soldering iron away to let the solder dry. It's better done holding the PCB vertically.

That sounds great, I'll give that a try.  Thanks!
