Introduction to ErgoDox for Coding Dummies
« on: Sat, 20 January 2018, 06:36:27 »
Hello All,

I'm hoping someone can help me find my bearings in this realm of keyboard making. I have no idea how to code anything beyond blog tweaks. I'm a writer and a Mac users looking to get an ErgoDox EZ to improve my workflow, but I don't want to invest in this keyboard if I am unable to modify the keyboard to my specs.

Here's what I'm looking to do:

1. Code keys to render special characters common in non-English languages (e.g., à, á, è, é, ö)

2. Code keys to quickly perform standard operations for word processing (e.g., italics, bold, underline, double space, single space)

3. Code keys to perform macro operations. For instance, creating block quotes, dropping footnotes, inserting comments.

4. Code keys on different layers to render characters in non-Latin scripts (e.g., Greek, Hebrew)

Can someone please let me know a) if it's possible to do this with an ErgoDox EZ and b) if it is possible, how might a coding dummy do this?
