War Dogs
Surprisingly good.

What those two guys managed to do was impressive (based on a true story), reminded me of Wag The Dog, which at least in theory could be based on a true story.

Love that trilogy; Army of Darkness is incredible.

I saw an Evil Dead musical put on by a local college years ago - also highly entertaining.

Finally got around to watching The French Dispatch. Loved it. I love the short story format, the acting was entertaining, the dialogue was smart and witty. Wes Anderson has really become one of the greatest directors of our era, and while it's not my favorite work from him, I think it's the best in overall technical film making and storytelling. Really wonderful shots, and an expertly delivered story.

Early episodes used a lot of local colloquialisms and hockey slang, that started to become less and less as time went on an it went after a more broad audience. They also pulled a bit too much from Family Guy by driving a few jokes into the ground. It just kind of lost what it was, a small town comedy based on their lives and turned into a general comedy.

They were always more small town farmer than redneck.

My understanding is that on Letterkenny much of it was real but taken to an extreme, basically as much hockey and small town slang they could find, plus some made up ones.
But you know kids, some did start talking similar.

They're native Canadians or 1st Nation.
Eskimo was usually used to describe tribes further North but has fallen out of favor.

Watching Better Call Saul:

❌ losing a few hours of my life

Painting the fence and watching it dry:

❌ losing a few hours of my life
✅ my fence is freshly painted
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Finished first season, really good, I liked the smooth, simple way to present crime movie. I liked it and waiting for second one, 28th June :thumb:

Chip 'n Dale - super good, I dare say the modern day Roger Rabbit. The jokes and references are a mile a minute, a great tactic to get people to see it multiple times in theaters. Legitimately funny, if I had a family or anyone who cared for me I'd take them to see it.

Chip 'n Dale - super good, I dare say the modern day Roger Rabbit. The jokes and references are a mile a minute, a great tactic to get people to see it multiple times in theaters. Legitimately funny, if I had a family or anyone who cared for me I'd take them to see it.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll watch it shortly :thumb:

you guys watch everything everywhere ?

I mean, I kind of get it, it's like rick and morty infiniverse concept condensed into 2 hours,  not bad, a litttttle over hyped.

On the other hand, it's technically very good, because it's very open to interpretation, even less locked down than rick/morty,   so potentially, if you apply your own logic and reflections on life,  it's more thoughtful than the mere cinematic delivery.

in the end, every movie comes down to too much or too little guidance. The fact that we're unable to ascertain which state of exposure the movie is, is perhaps the correct amount, goal achieved ?

Just watched it, sorry I wasted 2 hours of my life.

If it had come out a few decades ago it might have been groundbreaking, in 2022 it is just painfully stale and derivative. Also pompous and hubristic.

Frankly I am getting sick of Star Trek and Marvel doing it, and they do it a hell of a lot better. Better actors would not have helped, it was just a conceptual dud.

I have also seen it described as comic - I doubt that I even cracked a smile watching it, I only cringed.
"It turns out that for a decade, whenever Trump wanted to get a loan, or make a deal, he would inflate the value of his real estate. For instance, suggesting that his 11,000-square foot penthouse was a 30,000-square foot penthouse.
And the attorney general of New York knew that Trump's property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties.
It was all part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as “lying.”

Bosch Legacy is good.
