IBM Keyboard Vintage 1989 #139418 USA[NOTE: The auction title has a typo; it's actually p/n 1384618. And this is one of the things square brackets are for.]
This lesser-seen Model M variant has special green top legends 'n' sub-legends (and
front-printed F-keys, woo!) for IBM's
Personal Typing System, a PC that was bundled with a printer and WordPerfect software—so, astonishingly, you could use a PC to type and print stuff. ("Call the newspapers, Marsha, the aliens have landed!")
As I post, it's still at its $38.99 start price, and ends in 7.5 hours (today, April 27, at 12:18 pm PST).
Some of you may have seen this but decided the shipping, at over $50, wasn't worth it (and you would've been right, IMHO). I contacted the seller, turned him on to some more practical shipping methods, and it's now down to around 20 bucks.
Thing is, I'm not going to bid, as I now realize I have one. So I'm telling youse guys, because I'm swell. Also because I'm not allowed to have more than one IBM keeb with the same p/n, no matter how temptingly low-priced they are... Something about staying married, apparently.
