Edit: After a zillion attempts................

As soon as I saw "laser-etched", I suspected it might be this album.  ;D  Love it. I'm seeing a bit more of this on recent albums, but this is still my favorite.  :thumb:

Edit: Here's mine.  :)

2nd time I saw Pink Floyd.

The first time was better: Ummagumma tour at Symphony Hall.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”

Wow!  That is something priceless!  I remember when they were in Seattle and I was too young, but I sure wanted to go!  I would have loved to have seen them once in concert.  Never did.

I need to post a pic of my Heavy Metal album.  Love that movie.  The sequel, Heavy Metal 2000 was just as good with another killer sound track.

I'm jealous.  I was lucky enough to see Roger Waters perform The Wall live, which was amazing, but I'd really like to see David Gilmour too.

I am one of those ancient crustaceans who croak about how "they were never as good after Syd Barrett left"

"The Wall" was really quite good in its own way, the only part of the later catalog that I appreciated, but it is totally unlike the early stuff.

I technically have three myself, though I wouldn't encourage anyone to use two of them due to their quality.  :))

Nice pics though.  :)  I need to get a good photoshoot accomplished of mine.

Hi everyone, HoffmanMyster recommended me to this thread, as he saw some records in the background of an unrelated picture I posted on another thread. I wasn't really sure where to start, so I just took some potato-quality shots of my related collection and equipment and I'm just going to introduce myself from here!

I slowly started collecting vinyl records a couple of decades ago. My dad has a huge collection of records and he used to listen to them regularly while I was still growing up with him. That's where the bug originally bit me. I don't really focus on any particular genre, I really like a lot of music. I've devoted a lot of my time over the last 5 years searching for jazz records from the late 50's through the 70's (mainly Bop and its sub genres) but most of the records in my collection are still rock. I also have a small handful of electronic and hip-hop records, as well as a few classical and country albums. I'll admit, I have a weakness for colored vinyl pressings. About 2 years ago, I started gigging as a DJ at a local bar, mostly spinning 60's Bebop once every couple of weeks. That gave me a good excuse to buy even more equipment. Unfortunately, I am currently on hiatus from the DJ thing.

Here is the money shot of my primary collection: http://i.imgur.com/0JgAzJj.jpg In total, I have a little over 1000 records.

This is the overflow collection that currently lives in my kitchen, of all places: http://i.imgur.com/qZoXnFV.jpg Just above it is my backup amplifier (a Pioneer SX-3700) and one of my backup turntables (a Sony PS-X75)

Most of my 7" collection: http://i.imgur.com/fe19rUi.jpg

The rest of my 7" records, and a few 10" (and one 9"!) just to the right: http://i.imgur.com/qDIQ1Lm.jpg

I read something about cassette tapes earlier in this thread  :)) : http://i.imgur.com/AAd7sBr.jpg Yes, I do actually still have a cassette deck and do listen to some of these from time to time.

This is one of my primary "home" turntables, a vintage belt-drive Thorens TD-145: http://i.imgur.com/XlYmu3p.jpg

This is my other primary turntable. The holy grail of all turntables, a direct drive Technics SL-1200 MK2: http://i.imgur.com/6pafpuU.jpg This unit also comes with me for DJ gigs.

This is my other DJ turntable, a direct drive Stanton T.92: http://i.imgur.com/wz1wVDk.jpg

My primary amplifier (on top) is a Technics SU-V3, and my cassette deck (on bottom) is a Marantz PMD500: http://i.imgur.com/axZBG3Z.jpg

Thank you for reading and sorry for the crap pictures, it's kind of dark in my house right now.

Damn that collection of vinyl is fire. I love all of these bands.

I used to have that All Shall Perish shirt that said "WORST F*CKING DUDE" on it haha.

I wish I grabbed the shirt that was a ripoff of the Buffalo Wild Wings logo and it said "Blazin' Hot Beats".

I love cassettes. I grab em instead of vinyl for nostalgic reasons and I've got a boombox to play em on :). Nothing like your Marantz though :(.

HEY YOU GUYS!

Do any of you use Discogs database?

I'm a big fan of it. I've used it to purchase many records. I have a collection but only a fraction of my records are recorded in it. Here is my link: http://www.discogs.com/user/fletchermunson/collection

Yeh, I buy a lot on Discogs too. Here's my collection... http://www.discogs.com/user/yoe/collection

Only a fraction of what I've got for me also. I guesstimate we've got about a thousand LPs at home. Plus a bunch of vinyls at work too.

I would so love to join this club! I started collecting vinyl a few years ago when I got interested in vinyl DJ-ing, ironically I had no money for a technics so I just collected thrift store albums that looked cool, or old 80's or 90's bands I happened to know.

After a trip to vegas this year in the summer, I wagered $400 on red at a roullette table and voila! Finally enough money for a technics and other necessities (decent speakers, mixer/preamp) one thing I didnt end up getting, was some legit needles. I got some crappy audio technica ones that the record store had on hand. And now after a month or two of listening to my beautiful vinyl, the entire right channel is static-y. After messing around woth the speakers and multiple records, Im lead to believe its the crappy needle that gave out.

Does anyone happen to have an extra decent brand needle cartridge they could sell me?

Im on vacation in chicago this weekend but Ill post pics of my modest collection and setup for yall when I get back home to florida!

I would so love to join this club! I started collecting vinyl a few years ago when I got interested in vinyl DJ-ing, ironically I had no money for a technics so I just collected thrift store albums that looked cool, or old 80's or 90's bands I happened to know.

I don't think I have a cart to sell atm, but I do have recommendations to contribute with! The Technics SL-1200 is a great turntable for both DJ-ing and hifi use, and if you aim to use it for both things I'd say go for Ortofon OM or Concorde series. Then you just change the stylus depending on records and use, and get better styli in either direction depending how your interests develop.

For example, you could get the OM10 cartridge for like $50 and have a decent hifi cart. To make it an entry level dj cart, just get a Pro S stylus for like $25, swap styli and turn the stylus force up from 1.75 to 3 grams. Or you can go the other way, getting a Concorde Pro S for I don't know.. $80 or something and start with a basic dj cart, and later or at the same time get the Stylus 10 or 5E for hifi use. After that you can move on up in the hifi direction with Stylus 20, 30 or 40, or in the dj direction with the Nightclub stylus or any of the other ones.. there's a bunch of them..

Eventually your setup might look something like this..

Second this, it also allows you to buy a cartridge and then get a better needle down the line for an upgrade.

Alright I want to collect vinyls too and my girlfriend would love to get a record player.

What would be the best record player.

Preferably one that I can hook up to my speaker system I have on my desk atm.

So I don't collect fancy colored 12 inch, I just mainly order some new drum and bass albums a few times a year and try to keep my mixing abilities somewhat passable. I started spinning trance/house records in 2003, in about 2005 I was turned onto DnB (Dieselboy, Black Sun Empire, Pendulum) and quickly fell in love. I found Hospital Records not to long after and found something I have not stopped listening to since.

What I have left are my tables and a couple shelves of music.

Plus my carrying case with the stuff I still play most often.

I've sold off about 200+ records when I stopped playing out and moved to Dallas for a while. While I was gone my local vinyl shop (edm shop, still have other general music vinyl places) closed down. Now I just buy what I can find online and it's not as fun.

Love that carry case Zanduby, whered you get that? Also, since you mix a little, could you recommend some decent cartridges/needles for a little mixing and a lot of listening?

Carry case was bought at a local store years and years ago. You can stil find them on ebay and other sites.

I've used Shure M44-7 Cartridges for a very long time. They are a great over all needle. They aren't too fancy, but don't sound like ****. I've used them for scratching and general play. I do prefer to play on Ortofons, but they are just too expensive for me.

I've just started the vinyl thing a couple of months back
I've done a lot of research regarding what's the best price/performance turntable and speaker combo
and apparently the Audio Technica (http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT-LP120-USB-Direct-Drive-Professional-Turntable/dp/B002S1CJ2Q) suits my budget, I paired it with Audioengine A5+ and it's been serving me very well since
