Would anyone have the default firmware for the PCB by any chance?

Edit: Has anyone soldered in switch LEDs on the PCB? I get a whining noise when connecting the board and it just dies for a bit :/

Ah damnit. Thanks. They're soldered in fine, it seems like the board possible isn't drawing enough power? I have the LEDs off right now, when I turn them on in Bootmapper, it seems to just die.

What is the idea behind only having the brass weight centered around the alpha keys? Will this change the feel of the board?

Brass directly underneath the alphas should help with producing a nice thocky sound when typing.

Just to elaborate, as material, aluminum is less dense compared to brass (less mass per unit volume). Sound travels faster through aluminum and does not give off that deep, thocky sound as much as brass. Ideally, a full brass case would produce the best sound. However, economic constraint is a big downside. The best compromise would be having a large brass weight where keystrokes are registered the most (hence the center of the bottom case right underneath the alphanumeric keys) to reflect as much sound as possible from bottoming out.

Actually sound travels faster through higher density materials. Not saying you are wrong bout the sound resonance produced and which sounds better, just that sound velocity is faster through higher density materials.

Quote
The density of a medium is the second factor that affects the speed of sound. Density describes the mass of a substance per volume. A substance that is more dense per volume has more mass per volume. Usually, larger molecules have more mass. If a material is more dense because its molecules are larger, it will transmit sound slower.

I think otani is right tho. Makes sense to me too.

Unfortunately you missed it. Due to the unusual circumstances of the buy all the units available sold out in 0:02 seconds.

You’re right, depends on the elasticity of the material as well.  And even then it’s mot that simple, the range of speed in aluminum is 3040-6420 m/s whereas brass is 3500-4700

You’re right, depends on the elasticity of the material as well.  And even then it’s mot that simple, the range of speed in aluminum is 3040-6420 m/s whereas brass is 3500-4700

i think y'all are overthinking it

i agree with you

but this is above my paygrade

Is this why you post so much? Are you paid on a $ / post basis?

Nice

Man I was really excited when I heard there will be 100 spots. But 100, 200 or 300 spots, it doesn't matter. Always sold out instantly...

He'll get to it. If one would realize the number of PMs and emails he gets, one would understand. He gets to them eventually, just takes a few days.
