Edit: Has anyone soldered in switch LEDs on the PCB? I get a whining noise when connecting the board and it just dies for a bit :/

Ah damnit. Thanks. They're soldered in fine, it seems like the board possible isn't drawing enough power? I have the LEDs off right now, when I turn them on in Bootmapper, it seems to just die.

Sound travels faster through aluminum and does not give off that deep, thocky sound as much as brass. Ideally, a full brass case would produce the best sound. However, economic constraint is a big downside. The best compromise would be having a large brass weight where keystrokes are registered the most (hence the center of the bottom case right underneath the alphanumeric keys) to reflect as much sound as possible from bottoming out.

The density of a medium is the second factor that affects the speed of sound. Density describes the mass of a substance per volume. A substance that is more dense per volume has more mass per volume. Usually, larger molecules have more mass. If a material is more dense because its molecules are larger, it will transmit sound slower.
