When did you buy that Rosewill? Three months ago? Is that all it takes to call them vintage these days... :p

ahem....it came with 'vintage blacks' dutifully installed and modded by sir whiskytango ;)

and while it seems like three months ago it was only one month ago (i've only been here for two) 8)

If I'm right, it was originally mine. I gave whiskeytango a Rosewill that I had harvested of switches. He took some vintage blacks from an old WYSE terminal board, and soldered them in. WT used the board for a while, then sold it for basically the cost of the switches, since he had received the rest of the parts for free. Hopefully if ray4jc ever gets tired of the board, he will pass on the good will. :D

My MX Black Filco TKL makes a "ping" noise on key release, my Choc Mini with MX Reds never did this. How can I prevent this noise? Both boards have O-rings already.

More than likely because one is plate mount (filco) and the other is PCB mount

I'd like to mention that this was incorrect advice and I ended up wasting $70+ on Clear PCB switches because of it. Not saying it's his fault... but it was the reason I made the purchase.

All Noppoo Choc Minis are plate mounted and all Filcos are plate mounted (obviously).

Wait, what the ****?

I simply told you that the Filco has a plate and the Choc Mini didn't. I never told you to buy $70 on switches or even hinted that you would need new switches to fix the pinging issues you have.

So, I guess, don't blame me for your mistake

yes I actually already offered it to someone for a little less than i paid just the other day but then i decided i better keep it since its the only other full size board i have at the moment...but yes it will go for a good price IF I ever sell it. But now that I now it was once owned by jdcarpe I want $400 j/k :p

I know that SP makes keys in high gloss and matte finishes. Has there ever been a set made in high-gloss finish to avoid uneven shine over time?

I wasnt aware that SP made caps in different finishes. I've only ever seen caps in what I'm assuming is the matte finish. This is an interesting idea though.

I believe SP's SA-profile sphericals have smooth tops with no texture.

Yes I was reading about it here: http://keycapsdirect.com/key-caps.php

I am guessing any finish can apply to any profile. And yes, the sphercials do look smooth with no texture, but I'm not sure if that is considered high gloss or just a side-effect of the manufacturing process. From what I've seen they just don't look shiny enough.

Touch area finishes are typically semi-glossy

Here, how bout this. Pay shipping for the board to me and back, and I'll swap the clears (or ergo-clears depending on what you like) for free.

Depending on where you live I could probably drop it off at your house (I'm in WI too). I'll PM you about it later.

Seriously. I'm tired of posting this. Stop trading/bartering/handling business in this thread. Please use PMs. I don't want this thread circumventing the 60 post rule and I don't want there being precedents saying that others did it so they can do it here too.

Actually, I would like to know a member's age before entering into any buy/sale/contractual agreement. Excepting a few trusted members, I'm going to make it a policy not to transact business with anyone under 18. Especially when sending money to someone.

I don't know I've ran across some really smart 15 year olds and some hard to understand 50 years olds but I get the idea.

^^ I didn't want to say it like that but if I'm selling something to a kid who got the money out of his mom's purse then yeah that could be an issue :o

How do I get this thread to not show up when I click on the "Show new replies to your posts." link?

Just unsubscribe when you get the next notice in your email.  Or, you can unsubscribe in your Profile area.

Click on your name/id, mouse over "Modify Profile",  click on "Notifications, check the box on the right side of the thread that you want to unnotify, and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Unnotify".

There are two links under the "Hello Greystoke" text in the upper left corner of the forum view; "Show unread posts since last visit." and "Show new replies to your posts."

Clicking on the second link brings up unread posts for every single topic thread I have ever posted in.  These are not threads I have opted to get Notifications for, these are just ones where I have posted.

Is there any way to remove threads/topics from this category?  Or are we forced to switch over to the "Watched/Unwatched" options in order to effect the same result?

Or is this not a "Simple Question?"  In that case, where should I post my question?

For pictures on this forum, how do I put a SMALL thumbnail and when clicked on, it expands out to full size? I use either photobucket or imgur and they do not have this option, neither does this forum. The thumbnails are always too big.

But I think I've seen someone (jdcarpe?) resize a thumbnail, and when clicked on, it's full size.

Use WIDTH and/or HEIGHT size tags with the IMG tag.

Code: [Select]
[img width=80]http://i.imgur.com/jVmZwNE.png[/img]

If you only use one or the other, the system will adjust the missing size tag based upon the image's aspect ratio.

I just took delivery of a TKL MJ2 Filco w/ Browns an hour ago and while I like it, I don't LOVE it as much as I thought I was going to.

I'm used to typing on a Razer Tarantula and the keystroke travel was almost non existent after the activation point.

Would adding o-rings help minimize the post activation travel and the 'bottoming out' sound?

If so, which o-rings should I try? What's the best place to get them? I see WASD has them for $17.99, but that seems kind of pricey for what it is.

Thanks in advance.

Show Image

Code: [Select]
[img width=80]http://i.imgur.com/jVmZwNE.png[/img]

If you only use one or the other, the system will adjust the missing size tag based upon the image's aspect ratio.

Thats some handy info JD, I did not realize we could use size in the img tag here.

I think there should be a posting guide that covers these things as well as useful codes. But at the least this could go in the OP!
