I may even add to my order if that's possible. Probably one of the less popular kits.

I think they said just place another order if you want to add something.

confirmed

Icon RGB only needs one more to tip.

Wow!  That's escalated since yesterday
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Cyrillic, pretty please? We need another 3 kits to make MOQ, and this way it will be only 2 :)

at the current pace to have the cyrillic set tipped we would need 200 base sets sold. Not impossible, but...

The blanks sets hadn't much interest so far, I wonder what happened with those who asked for them.

Regarding the sets that appear under-demanded: Is there a plan to have them being produced even with they were under MOQ?

some I'm sure can be manufactured anyway. Others (eg intl mono-legend) I still don't know, have to talk with SP.

It is very interesting to see that just under 32% of main sets included a numpad. Meaning that there are near to 70% of ergo or TKL users in the buyers group. I will get a numpad to use these caps as monolegends though.

It is good to know that most of the caps with legends will do it at the end, one way or another.

I know it's pretty late in the game, but I thought I'd ask.. is there any chance of adding a 00 key to the numpad set? I'd like to get a full set that would cover my Filco numpad, but I don't see a 00 anywhere in any of the sets.

I figured as much.. oh well, I'll just find something else to use as 00, like the double kittens from the nerdom kit or something.

Thanks for organizing this!  :thumb:

Reference set has broken the $100 barrier!

I have been tracking the total cost of a reference full set with an extra spacebar and a splash of color, and today the total dropped below $100 USD (plus taxes and shipping, YMMV.)

Granite Set (PBT, dye-sub, DSA)$37.00
Granite Text Modifiers $28.00
Granite 6.25u Spacebar $6.00
Granite Blue Enter $8.50
Granite Numpad $17.25
TOTAL $96.75

Go members!

Now is the time for all people who were waiting for a sub-$100 full-PBT set to place their orders!

Good job, matt3o et al!

you don't even need the additional spacebar, mate.
It's really cool that this GB has really taken off... exited to see how much cheaper the sets will get till the end.

Bear in mind the base set already includes a 6.2u space bar. So that's $90.75.

And if you're a TKL user who doesn't want a blue enter... $65 :)

A basic full set is now $92.25. The TKL is $65, as you said.

Base $37
Text mods $38 => TKL $65
Num pad $17.25 => Full $92.25

As of now:

Full keyboard
common + text mods + numpad
$82

TKL keyboard
common + text mods
$65

TKL keyboard with 1.5 mods
common + text mods + text pro mods + 7u spacebar
$100

Considering that 7u is most likely to go down $2, even the TKL with 1.5mod can be considered sub-$100

Of course you should add blue enter and nerdom  :)

Sorry if this has been covered in the thread, I have not read everything...

In the OP it shows a thick pbt spacebar.  My understanding is that the SP DSA caps are not thick.  Are all the keys that thick or is it just the spacebar that is that thick?

Thx...

I think you are confusing DCS with DSA.

DCS is the normal row-specific cylindrical cap profile - the ones that SP make in this profile are indeed not that thick.

These are DSA which are spherical, low-profile and rather thick.  (One way to remember is dCs - Cylindrical, dSa - Spherical)

Icons modifiers are in a class by themselves, and based on the low order quantities these sets have so far, they are not for all, but for those with a special taste only. They are not the average Joe item. But I think this way is better, because they will be a limited edition subset of a special edition set.

I was not confused about that, I just thought sp dsa' where quite thin. Does anyone have an image the underside of a dsa that shows the thickness this set would have?

I love the icon mods, just need that price down. :)

Ya, I saw that.  Which is why I was asking if all the caps where that thick.

I found this thread which has some images as well.  The caps do not seem to be quite as thick as the spacebar in that image, but they do seem reasonably thick.  I may have to get in on this.  :)

Since it seems pretty unlikely that the (beautiful, buy it damnit!) Cyrillic kit will tip, I might just have to add on Icon mods/Icon RGB to my order  :-X

Sorry if this has been covered in the thread, I have not read everything...

In the OP it shows a thick pbt spacebar.  My understanding is that the SP DSA caps are not thick.  Are all the keys that thick or is it just the spacebar that is that thick?
I think you are confusing DCS with DSA.

DCS is the normal row-specific cylindrical cap profile - the ones that SP make in this profile are indeed not that thick.

These are DSA which are spherical, low-profile and rather thick.  (One way to remember is dCs - Cylindrical, dSa - Spherical)

I was not confused about that, I just thought sp dsa' where quite thin. Does anyone have an image the underside of a dsa that shows the thickness this set would have?

I love the icon mods, just need that price down. :)

There is a picture in the first post, here you go:
Show Image

Ya, I saw that.  Which is why I was asking if all the caps where that thick.

I found this thread which has some images as well.  The caps do not seem to be quite as thick as the spacebar in that image, but they do seem reasonably thick.  I may have to get in on this.  :)

DSA PBT is as thick as DSA ABS. The spacebar is a good example. They are thicker than DCS. If you ask me they are good enough, but I've seen thicker caps.

Icons modifiers are in a class by themselves, and based on the low order quantities these sets have so far, they are not for all, but for those with a special taste only. They are not the average Joe item. But I think this way is better, because they will be a limited edition subset of a special edition set.

Since it seems pretty unlikely that the (beautiful, buy it damnit!) Cyrillic kit will tip, I might just have to add on Icon mods/Icon RGB to my order  :-X

Only 4 more to go. And - as I definitely buy one if it will be in tipping point - only 3 more to go.

Come on, guys! You know you want this red Cyrillic lettering on your Granite keyset to impress all around you! :)

I know of at least other 2 people that are going to get them. Cyrillic should make it.

I have done what needed to be done.

Finalized my order:

1 Granite Set (PBT, dye-sub, DSA)
1 Granite Icon Modifiers
1 Granite Cyrillic: RU, UA
1 Granite Nerdom kit
1 Granite Blue Enter

That brings Cyrillic kit to 8. 2 more to tip. I'm officially starting chewing my nails...

Is there necessarily an MOQ for the blank sets if SP has to produce blanks for all the dye-subbed keys anyway? The more I see the icons, the more I appreciate them, but it is hard to move away from blank modifiers. (With apologies for the bad photoshopping of Matt3o’s nice 3D render.)

some of the blank kits can clearly be manufactured anyway, such as the RGB kit (being the same as the lengended ones). Others (such as the mods) I do not know yet. I'll speak with SP close to the end of the GB.

It’s also a bit curious that not printing the keys ends up costing a lot more than printing them. :-P

More people would probably be interested in the blanks if they were priced to be at least as cheap as the printed ones.

I don't get it, sorry. It depends on quantity.

At 25 tier a base kit blank costs $59.75 which is less than the legended common+mods (and it also includes blue enter)

Sure, of course. But as long as the sticker price on the blanks is $90 (while being only $37 from http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/product/dsa-pbt-blank-sets albeit in different colors), few people are going to bother.

I dunno, maybe no one would want the blanks either way (well, currently 2 people).

I think the problem here is that SP already sells DSA blank sets that are pretty inexpensive, and the additional stepped key+blue enter are not enough to trigger the interest.

Is the kit going to come with a keycap puller?

No. First time this one is mentioned. You may suggest that for other GB in its interest check phase.

Anyway keycap pullers are pretty cheap. And sometimes you don't even need to buy it. I got two - crappy plastic I got from "gamer" A4 keyboard and good wire one from Poker II.

A keycap puller option will be added to the GB.
