they will make a test run before going full production. I need to see it and confirm that everything's fine.
Yeah, good idea... better send me one while you're at it... You know, 4 eyes are better then 2...

I had no idea keycap sets could help you score with women.

Hey even "fat nerd girls" need some loving in this cold cruel world.  You can't ignore the fact that the vast amount of women on this planet aren't swimwear models or porn stars but why exclude them from this basic human need to love and be loved ?

Every person needs to get a little loving, then maybe this world wouldn't be so messed up as it is now  8) .

they will make a test run before going full production. I need to see it and confirm that everything's fine.

They must be super busy over at SP between keyshop changes and all these GBs.

edit: can't fkin' wait for this set.

I know but people always drop orders during production.
I should have just bought more sets to begin with but I was at $500.

The sublimated set may need more time than the DS due to the printing process.

Well, main hindrance is that there a lot of sets to produce. When I ordered a custom printed set for BS keyboard from Unicomp, it took only about a day to produce and ship it :)

It shouldn't be that long because it's done by machines. The reason it's long is because they have to make a test set, send it to Matteo, then Matteo has to give them the confirmation to start production. Since he lives in Italy, it will take 1-2 months for them to send it to him and him to send it back. It's all communications and logistics. The actual production can be easily done in one day.

sorry, this is not the case. I'll review the keycaps from pictures, not optimal but faster.

the reason it is taking longer is: 1) the GB is HUGE with really a lot of kits, 2) it's a two step process: mold the keycaps first, sublimate then.

There are really a lot of kits with a lot of legends, I'm sure setting up the machines for printing will take more than a day on its own.
[see previous GBs for set-up time/cost of production of sets. Ivan can tell you first hand about how sometimes adding a single additional key can sky-rocket the price of a GB because of set-up costs.]

Looks like SP didn't manage to get the sample set printed this week. Too bad, I kept checking this thread Thursday and Friday to see if we had any sample pics. So excited.

You would think GBs would teach you patience!

First let me start this email with a apology for taking so long to send out a status report on this group buy! We are so pleased at the response we received on this group buy - it definitely exceeded our expectations!! Many thanks to Matteo for creating such a great design!

We are currently finishing up the molding of the last few keycaps needed for this set, we will then move into sublimation. We are also in the process of testing and tweaking the first few sublimated sets - once ready, we will send them to Matteo for his final stamp of approval - this should happen next week, then we move into full sublimation production. Once I have Matteo's approval, I will send out a few pictures of the sets as they come off the press (I will also be posting these to the GeekHack thread as well).

For shipping, when sets are completed and packaged up, you will receive a tracking number from Stamps.com - we won't be emailing these directly to you, so be sure to look out for the email from Stamps (may end up in your spam or junk folders). We are still a few weeks away from getting these out - this set was so much larger than we anticipated (but are grateful for this!).

Should you have any questions about your individual orders, please feel free to contact me directly - I am here to help!

Great communication - AP are going all-out with their new GB system :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Well if you ordered a Granite set then you had to create a account to checkout (I assume).

I know I choose to.

because i am constantly around very nosey people.  i'm under the assumption that with an account, it makes it much easier to get a history of all of your purchases.

Not really an issue, but users who checked out as guest apparently didn't receive an email from SP earlier this afternoon regarding progress on caps.
