The design is not for me (too cute and childish - not dissing), BUT the colorways are just SUPERB!

I may be swayed by the fox design...

I'm not intending to be an a**hole here, just honest okay?

I don't really understand something here. I love a lot of your other work, don't get me wrong, but these are not at all what I would expect from you. I've seen you do some really great work in the past.

Care for constructive criticism?
Firstly these cats and foxes look way to tall for my taste. A sculpt like the Oso and doggy was much more practical and esthetically pleasing. That's not really my point though. The Dragons were also too tall for my liking, but I still thought they looked good. I think the sculpt work on these is very bad honestly. I can see where you are trying to go with it, a more cute and not so realistic look, but they both look like someones first try at sculpting. The cat is nearly acceptable, but from the pictures the fox looks like you spend 5 minutes with play dough and thought, what ever, they'll buy anything. I would expect something like this from my 7 year old but not you.

I'm sorry if we are supposed to keep our mouth closed if we don't like something here, I was just really disappointed with this. I just honestly think these two sculpts are Krap (get it?)

Feel free to trash my opinion if you disagree :)

First part is constructive, latter part is insulting. Although people who say they don't intend to be *******s usually act like one.

Wasn't trying to be insulting, I was just being honest. It just looks like sloppy work to me.

Frankly I'm a also little tired of everybody praising anything every time someone makes an artisan.
I'm not saying you should sh** on people who are trying to make cool stuff, but lately there has been some horrible attempts on r/mk and mechmarket, and I seriously don't think that people should put it out there if it isn't good. Some folks really will by anything.

For these keys it's a different scenario though, because Krap keys has produced some excellent work in the past.

I think it's a good idea to compare your work to what you've made in the past, and to other people's work. Not saying you should replicate others, but setting this fox next to a Puppet Master for instance will clearly show what I mean by a poorly made sculpt.
If your art is destroyed by something in the same category you should maybe try again and try to do it better.
Of course you can't always compare, because there's different styles and things like that, but still there's a good pointer in looking at how things are next to each other.
I make music and I often listen to the overall sound of my tracks and directly switch to something really well made, and if my track sounds completely trash doing that I know I'm missing something. Either the track is not well written or my mastering is off.

Same thing could apply to artisans. Look at the great ones and see if you think your work compares or fades next to them. Only in terms of quality and aesthetics of course. Again, not saying everyone should make the same thing. A good example of something different but really well made and high quality is DC Caps.
The Night Owl will hold up against any brocap, KK or nightcap. Yet it's a completely different style than any of those.

A good example of something different but really well made ang high quality is DC Caps.

Wall of text... but it all boils down to how you say it. You chose to be a prick.

Okay, I'm sorry if I came across like that.

It's hard to criticize without sounding like a total douche  :)

its cool man, no grudge here. I understand that not everyone likes what i make and what i think is acceptable. And yes, most of my sculpts are tall and impractical for usage compared to normal keycaps but i think that is what we always view artisan caps, isnt it? Placing them to keys we dont usually press and just an aesthetic for our boards.

I am sorry that my sculpts isnt to your liking but i really like how they are made. And as what we all know about artisan, each design isnt for everybody and im just trying to do something i like that people might like at the same time.

im not forcing anyone to get them anyways right? So if nobody wants it or think that its really bad, then its all good. I dont rant when my sales dont sell out, which happens most of the time, and blame anyone why they dont buy from me. The same thing for this sale and i would just be grateful to those people who would want to get it and like the stuff i make.

Cheers!

What's great is everyone has different tastes and what they like. I don't like tall caps but that doesn't mean others don't. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's bad. I understand the appeal of this design to others just not to me. So just because I don't like something doesn't mean I would go and trash on it. There is nothing wrong with these designs. They are just not to your liking. And you coming in and dumping on someone's art and work is bull**** dude.

Wow... GreyAmbience, whilst your opinion is yours and totally valid, there is something to be said about having a modicum of tact.

Firstly no one is forcing you to buy artisan caps you don't like, I don't see why this all needs to be said, people who like these caps might now feel like there is something wrong with their taste because these sculpts are apparently in your opinion bad.. If you don't like something just don't buy it, and if you feel the need to be critical have some tact, when people make caps, keysets, boards, cables, cases whatever it is they put a lot of their time and soul in to put it out into the community, and I can tell you it's a scarey thing doing that, as unless you have overflowing self confidence you are always worried people will hate it and shoot you down. Be careful with how you throw around your opinion, as it is honestly that, an opinion.

I am honestly a huge fan of Krytone, both his caps and himself, he is one of my closest mates in the community. So I am a bit biased.. but that said I have both the keyti and the karuma, and whilst I don't think they are as good as the Osu and the Huskey (and he knows those two are by far my fav caps of his <3) I still think they are really fkn cool caps.. the thing with them is that the sculpt is purposefully simple, it's called taking a design and making it stylized. He has portrayed a fox and a cat with very little detail, look at impressionist painters, this is a pretty hard thing to do and imo pretty impressive. I also think that these simple designs are an amazing vessel for resin work, the more simple a design is the better it shows of the attributes of resin, and I really appreciate this as another maker.

Whilst they are different than other artisans because they stand up and are an odd shape, I, personally think this is really cool, not every artisan needs to be flat and key shaped, a lot of Krytones are and they fill that need, these are two where he has tried to do something new and different with the medium, sure not everyone will like it, but I honestly doubt he is trying to appeal to everyone, he's trying to do something new and unique and I admire that. If you don't like them, once again don't buy them.

I feel coming out here saying they look like something a 7 year old has made is terribly unfair and rude. You know from his past work and his future sculpts (that he has teased) he has skill, maybe give him the benefit of the doubt and realise that he is trying something new and unusual, not just being lazy. The other option would be to contact him with the feedback in private channels, give him the feedback and chat to him about it, see if he can't sway you to see his vision he had with these caps.

Making stuff for a bunch of strangers on the internet is nerve wracking, it's scary as **** putting yourself out there. I feel posts that shut them down for having different tastes or taking a different track with their designs are grossly unfair, you can't like everything everyone makes, and no one expects you to, artisans are very personal and not all artisan will appeal to all people, I know mine don't. If they had bubbles and **** all over them it'd be a totally different story, but these do not.

I feel like I need to explain my self better and more polite:

This is a fantastic piece of work:

It's detailed, it's well made, the shapes are great and it really catches a cool look of an evil teddy bear.
It's clear that a lot of effort was put in to this design. I LOVE it!

This:

I can't criticize this without sounding evil and hard, but sometimes truth is just har I guess.
It looks like you pressed three fingers together on a piece of clay and cut two lines for eyes.
How would you say that in a nice way?

My point being I would expect better work from Krytone, and if we aren't allowed to say when things aren't good enough, the makers won't really know how we feel.

I don't know, maybe I should have kept my mouth closed.
I do, do that most of the times though! I don't criticize new artisans from total newbies like this, I just shrug my shoulders and move on. I just couldn't do that this time I guess.

Sorry, I'll try to be more constructive and nice next time I voice my oppinion.

Dude it's not what you said it's how you said it, and to a lesser degree where you said it.

I do agree with you that community members opinions are valuable, and that includes yours 100%

The design is not for me (too cute and childish - not dissing), BUT the colorways are just SUPERB!

I may be swayed by the fox design...

This guy obviously agrees with you to an extent.. but he chose his words really carefully. Your opinion, and everyone elses, is totally valid and valuable, just people should take care with how they share it I guess.

And I would assume that would include me too, sometimes I get carried away  ;)

Yeah you're right, I'll try to be more considerate in the future.

Sorry Krytone.

I do believe the sculpt is lazy, tall and everything that Grey said, but it's up to anyones taste and even though Grey was kinda harsh, I'm sure Krytone will prove him otherwise in the future.

As for the colorways and multi-shot casting technique, they are quite flawless.

All this being said, I can't wait to try my luck at the red and brown fox!

I love the Kurama. It's a unique take on the design. I'm not a fan of tall caps either, but when it's tastefully done like the Kurama I'll definitely take one or two.

If you're looking for more colorway ideas for your cats (which, by the way, I personally LOVE the cute design as I'm sure you can tell from my cat avatar picture), may I suggest the very popular app Neko Atsume as a point of inspiration?

You don't want to know what I'd do for a Peaches-inspired kitty...
