Browns should double their orders to reach the 20k mark, doubtful.

Damn clear or black? Black or clear? The hesitation is high!

Do you the clear would be too light for mods? To make something like the Topre variant weight but for MX.

Are the clears really too light to be usable? How do they compare to cherry reds?

Someone said that the actuation point of the blues is higher thant the cherry blues, so, will this mod still be possible?

I saw that they are 35g, I was just wondering if someone used them and they are really too light for intensive typing.

About the blues, thanks for pointing me to the post, they seem to work fine, and to be pretty silent on the upstroke too.

How do these feel with MX Clear springs? As in ghost blacks?

I tried Cherry clear springs in my Gateron clears and they felt incredible. If I'm honest they actually felt almost slightly too heavy, at least for linear switches. I ended up dropping down to the 78g sprit springs and now I'm confident that I've got my end-game linear switches.

Yes, Gateron clears are unusable with the stock springs in them. They are the lightest switches I've ever felt. A mouse fart or a stray butterfly could accidently activate one of those switches with the stock springs. I have a whole baggie of the stock springs that I'm pretty sure is going to go into the garbage because they are that light.

The "mouse fart" remark is particularly informative, it gives a clear "feeling" of how light the switches are...:))

I'm thinking about making a purchase for about 100 Black switches to replace my MX Reds. Would this be a wiser move than to maybe just get some replacements springs? I have another board with MX Blacks and I may want to get something a littler heaver/smoother to mimic the feeling.

Can anyone spit some knowledge on me? :)

Proposal: Add springs to the GB in modules ranging from 50 to 80.

Is there a chance to source springs along with the switches? It would allow the brothers to mix and match them to their preferences. The lack of experience on actual performance of Gaterons turns this GB into an experiment, and having the springs may allow precise customization. Potentially making everybody happy, instead of frustrated.

Gateron blacks are smoother than MX blacks or reds. They are heavier than reds, which is a good thing, IMO. They are slightly lighter than MX blacks, which again is a good thing. No spring swap or lubing required, which is a VERY good thing. :D

I RECOMMEND YOU BUY LOTS AND LOTS OF GATERON BLACKS.

I'm personally ordering 1000 of them, and no other Gateron switch (I've tried Gateron clears), if that tells you anything.

This would be so legit. It would be a nice touch to be able to further modify certain modifiers and whatnot! :)

Lets not make this GB harder than it has to be.  We don't want to get into issues with different delivery times and people wanting their orders because they don't want to wait for the other items to arrive, etc...  It makes the logistics a lot more complicated.  These guys are going to have enough work cut out for them just delivering the switches and the covers.  Lets not let our excitement lead to scope creep which will make everything harder for everyone.  Lets keep it as simple as possible because the scale we are working with here is getting pretty massive.

I am not sure I need 700 switches, but here goes nothing.  :)

200x blacks

You guys should probably order extra switches.
A Gatorade that I have has a faulty linear stem whereby there is a tiny bump on it.
I can feel a tiny change in resistance which is just big enough to be noticeable during normal use.
Although I can vouch that the switch is still smooth as **** aside from that.

Good point Sir Ray, another group for switches. Maybe the brothers with previous experience in springs.

This would be the group buy of the year, for dedicated keyboard aficionados only; those customizing their MX switches to the limit. :))

I know which is why it's making it difficult.

Now I am debating whether or not to cancel my 100 clears and get 200 blacks instead

or 200 black and 100 clears!?

AND I'm trying to save money :( sorry wallet

If you care about smooth feeling switches, order blacks.

If you don't mind swapping springs; AND if you leave the keycaps off your keyboards often, so that you can admire the switches, order a few clears. ;)

yeah that's what I may end up doing. I don't think I'm ready to do the whole spring swapping thing yet so I may order like 20 clears but mostly blacks and maybe blues if it reaches 20k

Along with a PM and a reply to this thread do I have submit another order form to update my order?  I actually like the lightness of my mx reds so I figured if they were a bit lighter I would be fine with them. All this talk of clears being unusable with stock springs is dis-concerning, it sounds like they are ALOT lighter than the cherry reds.

They are. You don't want clears unless you are prepared to spring swap.

Unlubed MX blacks? Like 65/100. Unlubed Gateron blacks are 90/100. :)

I'll tell you one thing for sure. Once you go Gateron, you'll never go back (to MX linears).

oh i'm 100% on board with Gaterons. was just thinking aloud whether i should spend $30-$45 on lube to squeeze out that last 10% performance increase. law of diminishing returns and all that

At first, I was just going to spring swap my gaterons. But after switching out 20ish, I thought why the hell not, and just opened them all and lubed the sliders & springs. Lubed Gaterons are a whole 'nother world of smoothness if done right.

In other words, you can use the Gateron blacks stock, and they will feel almost like 68g (Korean) lubed MX blacks. Or you can lube them, and they will feel like lubed vintage blacks. :)
