Cleaning pad-printed buttons?
« on: Tue, 16 February 2016, 21:24:06 »
Hey guys,

I thought this would've been discussed here... Maybe it has and I just couldn't find it.

Is there an accepted way to safely clean pad-printed key buttons? I found a nice Alps board with double-shot standard legends and pad-printed 2nds and 3rds in Japanese and Chinese. It needs cleaning, and I don't want to damage anything. Thanks!

I would have thought that warm water and cloth, microfiber would probably be preferred, would be sufficient. But I'm not 100%.

Some kind of soap would be okay, I'm hoping... Dish soap maybe? Has anyone tried that?

BTW, whatever the suggestion, I'll try it on a less-conspicuous one first, and I promise not to sue anyone.

I'm also deleting my irrelevant 2nd post with all the terminology crap... Sorry, I'd had coffee.

I hear alcohol only sometimes wipes the legends off.  You should try that.

Denture tabs and an ultrasonic cleaner are the two I always recommend.
