Invyr 'Panda' Super Linear Switches (Shipped)
« on: Wed, 26 October 2016, 00:32:03 »
    Groubuy has begun!

    G'day,

Today I am really happy to present to you guys a project that 27 and I have been working on for the last 4 months.

    _____________________________________________________

This product is a collaboration effort between Mech27 and Invyr.

The goal of this project was to create the smoothest possible factory linear switch. The manufacturer we have chosen for this project has provided samples that (without our tuning) are already smoother than the Gateron equivalent. The switches are made from POM, the standard self lubricating material used in switches, which will ensure a consistent and lasting quality.

Our tuning includes a 67g spring, and additional lubrication on both the slider and housing.  The moulds we are using for both the top and stem will be produced for our order.

For aesthetic purposes we have chosen to make both the top and bottom housings in a ivory white.

Will you add more payment methods (PayPal),

Oh, I didn't see it's CC only atm, if it stays like that I won't be able to pick up any.

Without paypal you are excluding a lot of people from your gb...

Anyway what about the wobble? Will they have the same wobble as gateron? I assume the manufacturer is gateron, since gateron made already custom switches like zealios and mod.

Okay, so here is the issue with paypal.

My account got shut down for "Excessive Risk" from my previous groupbuy. This occurred without any interaction from paypal.  :'(

    What do you guys think?

Nope! Wobble is minimal, and its not actually gateron thats working with us (They didn't even respond  :'( ).

Its about in line with cherry, maybe a tad better, at least from the samples we have gotten.

    Really depends on you  ;D
Fact is that there are many Countrys where Credit Cards are pretty uncommon.
    Most of Europe for example.

Id be in this buy anyway,
just have to wait until I am back from work and grab my card that I havent used this year even once  :thumb:

Oh nice do we have new player in the game? Anyway smooth and cherry like (not vintage) or even less wobble sounds endgame to me.

Sadly without paypal i cant join your gb. I hope you can solve the paypal issue in the near future. You miss a lot of participants...

There sure seems to be a lot of risk here.

Totally unknown manufacturer, not widely tested yet (previous group buys have shown testing as part of a group buy is a horrible idea and almost always leads to major delays), no PayPal in case things go badly, maybe you have to click the link but I see no photos either.

I'm all about having the best magical switches but everyone coming up with their own flavor and charging crazy prices is really getting out of control.

    You concern is fair enough.

I am looking into adding PayPal back to the fray, however as stated previously i have had some issues with them and so has 27. This included poor communication and mismanagement on their part. (I was given notifications by them that didn't match what was actually wrong) This resulted in a large some of money being Frozen until February with my previous group buy, results in me paying out of pocket to ship everything out.

From the samples we have received we would have felt comfortable reselling those alone, however we decided to further the switch. Realistically, the testing phase is no more than a confirmation that the final product is perfect as most of the work has been done between us and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer is definitely new, however has shown competency when dealing with us in both communication and general understanding of the state of mechanical keyboards.

As for the price I think it's fair enough, we lowered it as much as to what we though was reasonable for 110 switches, the price pays for the custom work done for the switch. We are not Cherry, we can't simply pump out a million switches, the supply nor demand is there. It's quite hard financially to produce a switch.

Renders of the product are available on the website. I will upload a video of the prototype demonstrating switch wobble etc in the morning.

I aim to stay as transparent as possible with the groupbuy, remember, if there is a **** up its on my head, I really don't take them lightly. Which brings me onto my next point.

Timing. I take this issue pretty seriously and anyone who has worked with me know I can be a bit of an ******* when things get behind scheduling. It is 100% in my interests to ship everything as fast as possible, not only does it make me and my business look better, but it also helps with consumer trust.

I hope this helps to clear anything up. If there are any other questions feel free to ask away!

I think that you'll get considerably less participants this way (I would've already joined if PayPal was available, I guess some others are in the same situation). I even talked to my bank and I can't get a CC (that'll allow for online payment) in time before the first raise in price, in other words it will prevent me from joining.

I know that this is not your choice, but I hope you can find a solution, maybe  trusted user of this community that has some experience with PayPal might help you out, maybe you find a different solution, but launching this without PP because of your current situation wasn't the best idea imho.

Who is the manufacturer? I'm thinking of combining these with a zeal housing instead of ordering gat clears. I am reluctant since the housing is pre lubed and it would defeat the purpose switching housings..

It's a new manufacturer we're working with to release switches under the Invyr brand.  Generally I'd suggest keeping the top and bottom, since they're being lubricated like you mentioned.

Will it be safe to remove the tops? I'd like to put in lighter switches if the 67g is not to my preference. I know some switches break when removing the top (looking at you Aristotle and kaihls)

Also, looking at the renders it won't be compatible with smd leds attached to the pcb (was planning to use them with the zeal60), yet it states its smd led compatible? How would the light diffuse? Just through the small hole of the switch top?

I think I'm still in, pending answer to the switch top removal question. I absolutely adore sprit's 68g springs for linears for their force profile and would want to swap those in.

Lightning may be a little less than a clear Top, as you would expect, but I also don't think it would be as bad as a fully Black switch. I would say somewhere in the middle  :thumb:

If this had've been posted yesterday I would've already purchased. So mad I went in on more 67g zeals and plan on buying gat clears to duplicate linear Zealios..

Spoiler alert: doesn't make em any smoother, ask me how I know.

    I must know, please tell!

The Zealio casing is no different from the standard Gateron casing. Meaning swapping stems into them is pointless.

Correct, there are slight differences in how the leaf is bent, but that has no effect whatsoever on linear stems.

Hmm, interesting. 67g is a little too heavy for my taste on linears, but I might still hop on this.
