Ah, that's why I specified several times 'very dirty', '8 clears for $2SGD (USD1.5), can't complain', etc.

Note that 'very dirty' DOES NOT APPLY to 99% of my switches. In fact more than half of my switches -basically the red, brown and black switches - are new because I'd bought several Cherry POS new as well as a new Rosewill. If you recall our negotiations, I'm really down to my last keyboard's worth of clears which I have been holding back because of poor condition.

After you, I can't sell a keyboard's worth of clears to anyone anymore, unless I desolder my Deck Legend. Which I will, if I still can't fix it. Anyone with suggestions please see http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62693.0

And don't worry, the clears on that Deck are very clean. You can see lots of my PCB photos too in that thread. I"m really frustrated about this multimeter-and-following-traces crap.

Guz I took a plastic cutter and cut off all the switch tops to access the stems and the springs. The housings were rusted and I didn't want to waste my time desoldering the board haha. The RGB LED is really cool though.  :thumb:

Darn; that's a smart way of desoldering. You are really thinking outside the box, good kid!  :thumb:

I do hope that LED card I made for you is useful. It doesn't have every LED color on the market, but should cover all the main types of LEDs for keyboards. I would have given you more... if only Peeka weren't taking its own sweet time. (referencing this thread http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=61930.0)

In response to a question made via PM:

My friend, I said

"$120 shipped anywhere. Postage alone will cost me $30 at least so that's actually a price of under $90."

I will ship anywhere and charge 120 total gift or you can add the fees if paying by goods.

The cable head is SDL, but as my ad says, it comes without cable. In any case you will need to wire a teensy directly to the keyboard controller (it should have 15 pins to account for all the rows and columns but please don't hold me on this) in order to get modern programming capability.

Even though you can buy a Ps2-SDL cable from Unicomp I suggest you not do this because the original programming software is long obsolete and no longer available. Wire it directly to teensy, use soarer 1.20v firmware and make it programmable and plug and play in one shot.

Thanks for your interest.

As I am not in a hurry over my hobby, nor do I fear being unable to sell clear switches (these are the most popular on geekhack), I must respectfully decline. In any case I am usually accommodating to most people to help them with their hobbies. If you don't need 120 I won't take your money to sell you 120, simple as that.

Some noob actually offered me 3x the price for some new clear springs last month (I have them in stock), I refused and sold him springs for the same listed price, plus advised him never to overpay on geekhack especially for things like springs which are practically the same used as new. I can't tell myself!

If a buyer pays for 104, I'll send 105+5 spare housings. This is not some kind of special offer to help me sell. It's just what I figure would be the most relevant and helpful to most people. If this makes sense to you we have a deal. If not, no prob. I'll probably still be on geekhack in a few years.  :))

(mentioned on another thread)

You can see the photos; they officially do call it a Model M even though the internals are clearly F. And yes, it feels like an F.

My main reason for selling is that there are nasty gaps between keys ie not pure matrix layout. Can't use my two Model M 50 keys for a Model F ergodox. This is only suitable as someone's gamepad I'm afraid.

I want a pure matrix layout Model F, so I have to wait until Wcass decides to do the work. With the muted response from other geekhackers I'm afraid that might never happen.

Ah, what a pity. But if you still need, I can put you on a waiting list. No obligation; I just need to find enough time to make more jailhouse blues (to replace the clears that I remove).

For now, this thread is locked. I am happy to sell brown or black switches but demand for these is slow, so anyone interested can just PM me. I want to free up this thread so that I can post something else.

Hey gutz!

Do you know the keyboard these chinese keycaps came from? I love them, but the profiles on the keys are distinctly -not- QWERTY. I arranged it by profile and the rows look like this:

The bottom two rows are the same, so it's 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4. Just wondering what the original layout was because I can't assemble the roman letters as I normally would, or else I would be typing on mountains of different profiles :P

Edit: CRAP I posted this in the wrong thread. I meant to reply to your other WTS thread. >.<

Am pretty sure that I mentioned more than once that this is from a POS keyboard. One of my matrix layout POS boards, a 65 key Hengyu that looks most like a 50 key Model M/F that I was selling, with the addition of a new row on top. http://www.hengyu-tech.com.cn/zh-CN/displayproduct.html?proID=150877
(http://images02.cdn86.net/kps01/M00/3B/01/wKiAiVCCHNrxN575AAA4zB_KoEc569.jpg)

When I translated the Chinese legends for you I did tell you that the legends are mostly for a POS/ accounting machine.

The original layout for letters was indeed something like how I photographed it, running systematically with A at the top left and Z on the bottom right. This isn't a QWERTY machine and I thought it was kinda exotic because it dates from a time when Chinese users were not internationalized enough to use Qwerty. Nowadays they're all standardized, much to me sadness. Also, because Hengyu is like Access-IS in customizing keyboards for institutional buyers, this is probably a fairly unique profile. Asked them once before, they said they don't sell retail.

(When I saw how they laid out the Roman letters I was laughing because I imagined the original buyer as some State Owned Enterprise run by communist bureaucrats who don't use much English so they prefer to peck out their letters A-Z.)

I'm talking to Vatin and he'll look for his cable which he misplaced. If nobody buys I'll eventually try my hand at fixing. Just that once I decided the iayout was not for me I bumped it down on my list of priorities.

I've also considered an alternative arrangement for the layout. The page up and down keys on the ergodox are too far away for my hands, but what if I changed them to rarely used keys like tilde and escape? That will allow me to keep the ergodox and use it, without actually using the second and third thumb rows which are too much of a stretch for me.

Can I lowball you on the Ergo dox?

Go ahead, the worst is I will say no and second worst is that Dorkvader gets less funding for his Hall Effect project.  :p

Besides, now that I've bumped it down on my priority list, it will be at least 6 months before I devote time to playing with it. It all depends on my many tedious desoldering and plate modding projects, as I transform my clears boards into jailhouse blues. Even if I fix this Ergodox I will still have to desolder...

Answer to someone who has been contacting me by PM:

Let me give you some friendly advice since you have indicated a shoulder pain problem that I would like to help you solve, without actually selling you my ergodox:
1)   You can try this layout. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Cherry-USB-Keyboard-RC80BM-Black-/131366427895?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item1e960c9cf7 The seller is very nice and friendly and will easily discount 25%, maybe 30%. I have the RC128BM version and did my first split modified colemak layout on it and loved it totally. Put the numpad in the middle so your alphas are 4 keys apart. Totally programmable, indubitably solid build. Very heavy. I have a photo log of the RC128BM (Tipro) internals somewhere. If you don’t buy, sooner or later I will give in to temptation and buy!

2)   You can try the Hengyu or Citaq POS keyboards. Right now the shop I bought them from http://shop67856580.taobao.com/shop/view_shop-7f437f1e2250807a9e7eac863b8fa7b6.htm?spm=a1z0b.7.1000329.1.xiwrao  on Taobao is out of stock, but they are very inexpensive when sold as scrap. They’re easy to hook up to teensy, light yet sturdy. There’s space to include a Bluetooth module for wireless use. One Citaq or two Hengyu will allow you to do a split layout, and the advantage of a matrix layout is that they are going to have far, far closer locations for your thumbs. Unless you have a Nordic goddess for a girlfriend, I don’t think Ergodox is comfortable for most women’s hands.

3)   You can buy a pair of Access-IS 10x8 matrix keyboards as shown in the pictures in the OP on this thread. These are easy to USB-program. I am not selling mine but just keep your eyes open.

4)   Take a deep breath and buy this https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46277.0 from Prdlm. Since you’re good at bargaining you might get it for under $200.

5)   Go for this http://www.ebay.com/itm/KINESIS-ESSENTIAL-KB132PC-WIRED-ERGONOMIC-KEYBOARD-WHITE-USED-/121503248440?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item1c4a287038 It’s the original ergodox and only $100 shipped.

Right now the shop I bought them from http://shop67856580.taobao.com/shop/view_shop-7f437f1e2250807a9e7eac863b8fa7b6.htm?spm=a1z0b.7.1000329.1.xiwrao  on Taobao is out of stock, but they are very inexpensive when sold as scrap. how come no one wants the Phantom PCB? Is there something wrong with the pricing? Shipping for me will be at least $15 (need a box to protect) so you're getting it at a great price if you're in Europe/Oz.

I am interested in how the teensy works; I sent you a PM. I'm pretty new to this, and I would really like a tactile grey, linear grey, and white switch just to play around with. I don't mind paying for this.

absolutely not.

I am pretty much over the buying phase now, so any good deals I post for others are just as a public service

I bought or modded many keyboards with different layouts over a long period of time and am slowly desoldering them. The clears are actually easier to desolder because most are from PCB mounted. The blacks are hell, and nobody wants to pay for them, but unfortunately all the POS and matrix boards that have layouts I DO want to use, are all using blacks so I have to desolder if I am to get any use out of the POS board.

I still have a handful of clear springs and stems but am out of switch housings because I gave away too many  :(    30 cents per clear spring+stem, I think I have 30 but must check again. Probably not enough for a poker, but if I like you I'll rummage and see what I can find.

They actuate at the bump.

Much quieter than browns. The most quiet of all Cherry MX. Still not totally silent so no promises there on whether you can use this in a courthouse, but whether you bottom out or not they're the most quiet switch type you can get.

Are you asking because you want to learn how to make, or because you want to buy and are curious?

If you want to make, don't worry, I have been wanting to make a video about this for a while. I'll get to that after my other projects are done.

Post by: NeoNoeN on Mon, 29 December 2014, 04:02:51
Nah not looking to make :P I've just heard that the O-Ring method is a lot more consistent than the wire method so I'd be fairly interested in buying a O-Ring jailhouse blue switch than a wire jailhouse blue switch.
Title: Re: 104 Jailhouse Blue switches, Blue MX Stems and some other switches
Post by: berserkfan on Mon, 29 December 2014, 09:47:58
Not to worry, mine are fairly consistent because I use dental bands. And I discard the bands that are slightly off spec when I notice any inconsistency.

For the wire thing, I think that's much harder to make well. I salute the guys who do it, but I don't want to be one of them.

Being ghetto greens, they are actually blue in colour but use heavy spring. The weight is less than real greens / blacks due to high actuation point.

I'm quite keen to sell to you because I really want someone to do a side by side comparison, especially in terms of noise and typing speed. If that's your cup of tea we have a deal. PM me!

What mounting are you talking about?

As I am not conus I suggest trying the 'free things' section. Just ask for a clear; some people might be able to spare.

mounted on anything vaguely resembling the feel of a PCB I guess :D  I'll try the free section, although I always thought that was more for people offering stuff than requesting stuff.
