We've seem some modern variations of those... For example, numberpad mice, mousepads with calculator, whimsical mice ... Unfortunately, the list goes on...

I guess if you know how to get people to find your product, novelty, even obvously unhelpful novelty, sells pretty well.

A trackball you can detach and turn over to use it as a mouse.
