How does enjoypbt sound? I got a set, a japanese pbt alpha set (not sure if enjoybpt), which sounds annoying high pitched, when compared to gmk abs, or to oem vortex pbt.
I personally like the sound and feel of them but your preferences may be different.

On a separate note, 60 people have filled out the latest form and these are the results so far:
(Attachment Link)

Windows 95 is leading but the diamond key isn't too far behind. What do people think about my previous suggestion of adding 1u diamond keys and 1.5u super keys in conjunction with 1u and 1.25u Windows 95 keys?
I like the idea

I just asked if this sets sounds sharper, higher and more acute than gmk abs. You didn't answer  :(

because its almost impossible to answer that question accurately. I am sure someone could give a yes or a no but it be woefully inadequate. Things like plate materials and case design all play a very high roll in acoustic properties. I am sure PCB materials can and do play a role. As some boards have more flex then others. The switch batch them self's can play a role in how things sound. I found that there is no easy answer to acoustics. My topre boards are a great example of that. I mean there both topre one a Topre TKL and the other a Leopold. There both using the Topre switch and both have extremely different acoustic characteristics.

Though to try to answer your question my enjoypbt sets tend to sound more rich on my tada 68. They remind me more of a topre switch then the gmk abs do thought neither has a exact sound profile like topre thock.

It is not. They're two different PBT keycaps makers.

Edited my post. I know they’re not the same but they look very similar. Just wondering about the history behind these. Couldn’t find anything about Peacock on deskthority.

There are three known versions of SAT:
G81-3000
G81-3004
G81-3225

3000 is presumably the default Czech layout, it includes many top-printed black sublegends on the alphas as well as that famous blue scattered throughout, which also appears in side print on the numrow
3004 is the designation for Peacock Computers, it's similar to the 3000 spec but without many of the alpha sublegends and with a Peacock logo on the case
3225 is an English/Czech hybrid similar in spec to 3004 but with some tweaks like text/icon mods in some places and different bracket positions, etc.

I agree that scoops plus bars feel and look horrible.
How's the enjoypbt texture, compared to the OG sets? PBT is more "silky" and dry than abs, I just wonder how does enjoypbt compare to OG pbt (texture and touch wise).

So it's one pair of F and J purely scooped and one pair and purely barred? That's nice  :thumb:

I think you will find the community split on what's preferred. But EPBT might want to rework their scooped design.

See my Reddit post demonstrating the problem here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/b08vog/enjoypbt_homing_keys_impact_switch_housings/

I personally like scoops, but I assume fixing this will be pretty expensive, so I'm happy to settle for no scoops.

Oh I would love if pure scoops were something EPBT could do, that's half of the appeal of OG PBT and CRP for me personally, pure scoops and R5 bottom row.

OMG  I was considering to use silent switches. Is the only solution to Dremel the key?

How can such a low tech thing like a keyboard have so many variables? Why people can't just copy what it works? Is that so difficult? Just look at box switches. They were too big and still destroy keycaps. And now this. How can this happen?

If the OG was icon only, why does this need to be icons and text? That's strange.

Scooped-only EPBT would be really nice if they manage to fix the scoop-hitting-switch issue.

Also +1 for R5, but again that requires new molds so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm not sure what part you would even Dremel...

As for BOX switches, the problem is that Kailh got a request from an OEM customer to make the stems extra-fat so that (their probably poorly made) keycaps wouldn't fall off. So Kailh complied without thinking about the effects on a tiny fraction of their customers (the enthusiast community).

As for the keyset, that's what an IC is for. I'm definitely in favor of mimicking the OG look when possible.

Way too early to confirm but what I can say is that it will definitely be after Kuro/Shiro and Extended 2048.

The current timeline is to finish the design by the end of the month and then wait for prototypes which will probably be around 2 months from now.

Beige/white is a good classic color scheme, but I would like to see what other colors are possible with PBT personally. 2048 with its cream background color is a welcome first step of innovation.  :)

There have already been a few non beige epbt sets already like bow, Grayscale, slate and kuro/Shiro.

Added a snapshot of my progress. Alpha legends are done and the next thing to do is to place side printed legends and then finish off the mods.
I'm aiming to finish the first cut for prototyping by the end of the week.

Sorry, icon+text won out in the survey.

I've attached a quick update. This is the kit as it stands. I've tried to cut out split spacebar compatibility to get the kit size down but still leave all the necessary compatibility for layouts.
Also, I've provided options for the OS key to meet peoples' preferences since the results in the current survey aren't unanimous.

Good point. I think I'll go with an extra Y rather than adding a < to the shift.

I think that could be nice, just for the Esc and Enter keys. The question then would be whether to use the mod colour like GMK Blue Alert or alpha colours for the base key.

EDIT: added the accent keys to the preview in the main post.

Whoops. I remember deleting an extra alpha coloured key because I thought it was related to international ISO because I hadn't added the sideprint yet. I'll get that fixed.
The key count is getting a bit up there now so I want to cull some stuff. First on the list is the 1.5u Fn but I'm wondering about the 1u backspace as well so that I can add the 1.75u control.

I like the blue enter; would be down for a matching blue spacebar and arrow keys myself.

A blue spacebar would be truly gorgeous.

I’d prefer to keep it understated as is and hopefully keep the price down.

Separate purchase option; like what was done with ePBT Grayscale and extra accent kits.

Was the € print on the E key considered? It is not included in the original set but the € sign accesible through AltGr is default option in many ISO layouts (including the Czech ISO layout..and this set is in Czech ISO). Since basically all AltGr options are printed in the down right corner of the caps the € sign should be printed on the E key as well.

Czech ISO and a blue enter? You have ALL my attention!  ;D

EDIT: I would like to point out  mistakes in the print on the key right next to P: there should be the / symbol instead of { symbol and there should be a + symbol on the number 1 key above Q.

Thanks, I'll fix that when I get home.
It seems that few people are wanting more accent keys. What I can do is remove the numpad and 1800/CP compatibility from the base set and bundle that with accent spacebars, arrows and windows+diamond keys.

This would leave compatibility for standard 60%, TKL, tsangan 7u, HHKB, 65% and 75% which is pretty much what most people in this hobby use.

And the & symbol on the C as well? I think it makes sense but I'd like others to chime in to see how they feel about this as well.

Yes, & is also accessible through AltGr on the C key. But it is slightly more complicated. If your TKL layout is 87 keys the Czech layout (the Enter is no ISO here but that's irrelevant) looks like this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Keyboard_layout_Czech.svg. Notice the differences: the key above the enter key misses ¤ symbol but this symbol is accessible through AltGr. then there are the three keys between M and Enter. These in combination with AltGr give from left to right: < > *. But these symbol can be accessed more easily if you include the 88th key with the sacrifice of shorter left Shift (and because we can, we add the & symbol as well). Then you get the layout we see in this group buy and there is no need to print the AltGr default options on these three keys between M and Enter (also, it is incredible clumsy procedure to hold AltGr and then press any of these three keys from default finger position).

Conclusion: It really depends what people here decide to do. The current state of the prints with the mistakes out of the way is great. I think it would look nice and continous if the C had the & print.

I've updated the kit. Let me know if there are still errors.
