AT-layout Monterey keyboard, MX switches, a few hours left
« on: Thu, 26 February 2015, 09:51:49 »
No promises on the switches though, and there’s no time to get a cap pulled. Possible it’s something else, Cherry MX or something.

Edit: title previously said chance of blue Alps, but seems it’s MX.

I'm the current bidder on it.  Based on other Monterey boards, I'm guessing White Alps or Monterey switches.  Some of the other similar looking boards I've seen used Mitsumi.  I really wouldn't put the odds of Blue Alps all that high.

Ones with keycaps this shape and AT layout?

I’ve seen pictures of a couple boards that looked very similar to this with blue Alps switches (down to the same weird-shaped ctrl keycap, ****ty legend alignment, scrunched up ~ symbol, and in the same type of case with little Model F like feet handles on the sides and metal backplate). I don't think I’ve ever seen one that looked quite like this with white Alps, SMK, or Mitsumi switches though.

But yeah, it could be anything; no way to be sure without pulling a cap.

Strange board. Interested to see what switches it has. Decent chance of good ones though, probably.

Seller said plus shaped stems.  I assume MX.

Okay, almost certainly MX then. Title edited.

Edit: or maybe like nubbinator suggests it’s mini-Mitsumis. I’d bet on MX though.

Okay, almost certainly MX then.

For 10 or 20 dollars it's worth it for switch harvesting.

Ones with similar layouts.  I saw one with an XT layout, same style case, same style caps that had some funky looking switches that weren't your standard Alps.  I feel like I've seen some with other Monterey switches as well.    I just don't know of any Monterey made boards that have had Blue Alps.  They've had other weird switches and Alps clones, but no Blue Alps that I've ever seen.

There is a chance for Mitsumi as well.  The caps look MX style to me though.  I just like weird old vintage stuff.

True that.  I will throw in the word Usable.  I love to use my vintage keyboards.

So, who outbid me?  I was working and didn't get a chance to bid.  I really hate you right now.

Well if it IS someone here, can they at least post what switches it has? Curious now.
