Considering Norbauer's case is coming soon-ish, I hope we have at least a render soon. I think I speak for all of us here that we're not going to buy both cases and then pick one 🙂

Forgive my ignorance here, but what makes a case programmable?

If a converter were to be included inside the case then it would immediately allow the real force keyboard to be fully programmable.
A new controller entirely may also be possible.

my assumption is a breakout board that offers programability and removable cable - just a guess

Would be nice to see a prototype render soon, very interested in how the PCB overhang will be handled. If it can't be avoided so be it, but that's my biggest pet peeve of my current RF and the Norbaforce.

  • Missed another sale.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

indeed

The problem is that any attempt to ask questions or request information is met with fanboyish "It's TGR, how dare you ask for details?!" kind of responses.

Having two incoming case options for my Realforce I'd love to be able to compare them before I choose. However, it seems I am not allowed to know anything specific about one of them  :(

Since we have nothing but speculation at this time, I'm going out on a limb to wildly guess that the "programmable" aspect of the case is an internal USB daughter board that will convert the fixed cable to a detachable external port and allow programmability.

Now I just need to convince myself to love my new  RF 87u 55g enough to warrant spending hundreds of dollars on one of these cool cases. So far it's more a feeling of lukewarmness trying it after my favorite capacitive buckling spring.
