What I find most fascinating about all this rollercoaster-switch-thriller story is that neither Invyr not mech27 ever said anything on this matter, not a single fuking word. (Well, except the initial statement that it's impossible to produce new switches.) It's thought-provoking stuff. I bet all three of these guys from the Panda story know a lot more than they were really ready to say. And we may never know what really happened.

i have been told that the damage was not to the actual part where the switches are molded, so the housings will be basically unchanged

We've been riding on this rumor for about half the year iirc. Not to undermine it as it IS great news, samples for gsus have already been out so I can trust that more than something that will happen in the future and can possible face failure.

Glad to see that there's actual follow up with the original molds though, but there was so much speculation I don't even know my own opinion anymore.

From a business point of view, it makes sense for MD to not release any premature information. The market of Panda and their variants is no doubt a peanut butter jar for them to stick their fingers in, and I've always wondered what kept them so long for not involving in any of this. A little bit surprise, but still makes perfect sense to find out they've been keeping it under their sleeves. Very nice! With zealios v2, gsus and original panda all being released or at least being in development at the same time, I have such a high hope for the exotic tactile market!

We all know damn well MD ain't gonna spit a word until they literally plan to drop it next week. When was the last time we saw Apple go post on a forum about their next iPhone release? Yea... But with 27 actually said it himself, I am pretty confident that a new line of OG Panda is very much in the horizon, heck maybe we will even see them before next year given what Puddsy said was true...
