Wow - I really really would like to go, but I don't think I can swing the flights.

Super jealous of all those that will be attending.

check alaskaair.com to see you there are flights from your city to the Bellingham airport.  Flying into Bellingham is cheaper than to fly to Sea-Tac, and is only about 25 mins away from SP.

i am hugely interested in this, but wouldn't be able to make it until late nov most likely. ie, don't wait up for me, but i could very well be in for a round 2 or a smaller group with lit and hash. BLJ: since you're the injection tooling expert, do you think i could pick your brain about tooling costs for the SSK revival? http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33430.0

Sure, i cruised thru your post but i am not 100% clear on the scope.  can you shoot me an email with the CAD you have; or email/PM me with some contact details and we can chat about it.
unfortunately, my CAD guy has had some health issues recently so I don't have anything concrete yet, but i'll shoot over my contact details (SP sales also has them, btw), to see if we can work out a ballpark estimate even without schems.

to all the brilliant friends who have left us, and all the students who climb on their shoulders.

Horizon goes to Bellingham... usually you have to layover in seattle or another nearby airport and switch from Alaska to Horizon.
Allegiant flies straight to bham and if you live near a smaller airport you might be able to get straight there. They're not always the cheapest but it is possible to score deals from them.

looks like Engadget sniped the seattle area meet up concept.  hacks...

Fortunately they picked a different day.

I'm still interested. My work schedule may conspire against me since we have several production upgrades, migrations, and deployments being scheduled over the coming weekends, but for now, the weekend of the 3rd should be open for me.

I'm a maybe - SP tour sounds super fun, but I haves the carsickness and the social anxieties... it'd probably be too much for me. I'll see how I'm feeling about it closer to the date.

Carsickness is no fun. ;< I get a headache when I'm in the car for a long time but normally I just end up sleeping because being in a car makes me really sleepy too.. lol.

Mild sedation for the car ride and chants of "these are my people" while you're there?

Actually, I've used the mild sedation method before, and it worked! Antihistamines for the win....  ;)

Edit: This is too much fun to pass up! You can count me in. I'll try to stay awake through the tour, hahaha. Could I possibly hitch a ride with someone? Either that, or I can drive. That would help circumvent the carsickness as well.

When exactly in November? Around TG, or other? My schedule is a bit tumultuous. Also, coming from Redmond with unreliable transportation.

Yes, I'm still on for Saturday Nov 3rd
I am thinking early afternoon, 1:30-ish.
I dont know what the expectations are for the meet up but I'll start with what i was thinking and we can edit from there.
1- introductions, meet and greet
2- safety (ie - no forklift racing)
3- plant tour
4- show-and-tell/review samples of a few different materials and color schemes i have been looking at.  Hope to get some feedback from the group.
5- 4 hour sales pitch for a wonderful vacation time-share opportunity.
6- warm up some molding machines and mold some keycaps

we'll arrange for some light snacks and refreshments (sorry no adult beverages in the factory)

If people have backlit keyboards of any type and can bring them i'd like to check out the brightness of various boards

let me know what you think, thanks.

This sounds good!  So I suppose after the 4-hour time share sales pitch that will be some free gifts?  ;-)

To make it real, I am going to start a google spreadsheet for people to sign up, what keyboards they will bring to show, provide info which city they are in, whether they can drive or not, and then we can arrange car pool.

Signedddd up! I'm driving myself and sii92 if he confirms attendance from Issaquah/Bellevue area and could pick up any agreeable folk on the way (willing to "detour" to Seattle if needed). I have space for two more!

darn and I said I can drive people. I will be around Bellevue area on Saturday with a car but I guess I can leave my car at Rumudiez's house and go with him unless the situation calls for another driver :)

Lister, are you going to bring your ErgoDox prototype? I think that might get a few more people to attend ;)

I'll see if I can convince my wife to let me off for the drive up to B-ham on that Saturday

Considering going if nothing's going on on the 3rd and I can force my agoraphobic butt out of the apartment. So it's a tour and a geekout afterwards? Sounds fun. Anyone coming from around the Redmond/Kirkland area?

I'll try to get a couple other people... None of my other friends are really into keyboards at all, but I might be able to convince one or two.

Kellybear, where do you live? I could pick you up if not too ridiculous a location, haha

Rumudiez: I'm near Northgate mall, north Seattle. Super close to a freeway exit so stopping by to get me shouldn't be a problem I think?  I hope.

I have yet to find caps I like for the kmac btw, so if I bring, it will be keycapless. AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY UNTIL I FIND FITTING KEYS.

Okay, Northgate is pretty easy. I'll PM you when we get more times and whatnot planned out!

You'll get to see a ton of different caps on your pretty kmac up there, too, so I won't complain about the poor thing being naked yet. :P
