It's both safe and sad to say that except for the spacebar kit, none of the addon kits would make it to MOQ. I've been relentlessly trying to get to non-MD GB runner that any non-MD GMK addon kit is a direct kill order, because they will never make it to MOQ, and these kits happened anyway.
Wake me up if something miraculous, like zFrontier generously buying out 40s and Ergoplanck kits so they can be made, happens. Otherwise, I'll forget that this has ever existed.

GMK is not that rigid on MOQs and there are 4 proxy involved, so i think this will happen if we reach acceptable numbers, just buy it :(And the way the GB is set up you don't even get charged until it's over if it goes through anyway.

As with all Keyset Groupbuys, generally it is better to commit first when you are on the fence since this will drive the momentum and the numbers up, which translates to numbers moving closer to MOQ and more people willing to join with confidence as well. This, of course, does not take into account financial issues since buying from zFrontier requires upfront payment. If you are from US though, donutcables only require you to pay at the end of GB period when the MOQ is reached (and you can change your mind anytime within GB period with ease).
So if you are on the fence because you (or everyone reading this) are/is uncertain whether it will reach MOQ, hop on in :)

250, most likely yes -- it depends if the vendors have the funds to buy out the remaining sets.
You should buy now and get a refund if it fails instead of waiting to see if it'll make MOQ.

I definitely agree, the appeal is that it is a muted flat gold shade instead of bright yellow paired with a very classy deep purple, and the monotone colorway is very unique in the current scene, uncluttered with no accents and sublegends and whatnot.
FWIW, I find the GBs that easily hit MOQ are the ones that do what I call "Hype Checks" to remind people that the GB is actively running, with new renders/images to spice things up periodically (Looking at recent Zambumon, Oblotzky, and even Olivia GBs). RMK responds pretty well to the Hype Checks, especially because the decay system lets posts fade away after a day or two.

I asked Donut on Reddit and he said he'll replace the previous order with the new one. I did that to add a spacebar kit. Any word on when it will be working again?I didn't get an invoice a couple weeks ago when I ordered the phantom sets either, but I thought it was because they were preorder and we would get charged at the end. Happy to announce that we've hit MOQ for base and space bar kit, i am now currently talking to GMK about lowering the moq for the 40s kit we are so close.
Because of technical difficulties in the product page and some uncertainty about hitting MOQ, we will extend the GB until the 10th of June.

I have to thank brian01905 for sharing all the vendors' order number progress. Believe it or not, most keycap group buy originators aren't interested in graphs. And if there are only one or two kits it makes sense - a graph wouldn't be very useful.
If anyone comes across a future GB that might want graphs, let me know. I'd be happy to make them if I have time.
He does that for every MD keycap GB.
Massdrop periodically updates and shares a kit order spreadsheet for every drop, so the data is right there. I figure I'm not the only one who finds it hard to grasp kit order progress just looking at a bunch of numbers.

If the mechanical keyboard community cooperated to make and maintain a single website informing of all active Interest Checks and Group Buys, it would improve visibility and consequently the chances of more Group Buys reaching MOQ. Currently, one has to do a lot of searching to find everything - and how do you know when you have truly found everything? Massdrop's group buys do so well because of their visibility. The community-maintained website could be as simple as just sharing a few images and a complete list of all relevant links for each active IC and GB (originator's home page, all threads in all discussion groups, each vendors' website). Once something closes it would be removed from the site, as anyone interested will be following already and know where to find updates.

I think the main problem with a website that is just a hub of links to IC/GB is that people wouldn’t “hang out” there. If your only reason to go this website is to then leave to different website, it won’t have any staying power.

Geekhack has been good because it has a system of keeping popular topics at the top and many people use it like an archive of their project. Massdrop and Reddit have been successful because they include many different types of people other than this community. Discord has been very useful lately because of how quickly you can get in touch with people.

I partly blame the cloud passing by blocking the sun when taking that specific photo >:D. You can tell the lighting is off by comparing the backdrop to the other pictures :)

Looks great man. The purple looks kinda different from the color chips, but I think it’s still pretty great.

even though I didn’t order a set (got Violet Tendencies and didn’t feel like another purple set) I agree that the yellow looks slightly more muted than it does on the render. However, I think both samples look pretty good :) gl with the GB!

Seems pretty close to the pantone to me, it is slightly lighter than the render but the pantone is really close, never supposed to be a gold.
Talking about the initial sample which is what was produced later, i'm totally ok with it.

I might get a few more packaged up before then, but tomorrow is taken up with wood splitting at the grandparents' house, and we actually don't have room for many more packaged sets at one time. Also, I've got like maybe another 20 orders' worth of bubble wrap left, and something went weird with my bubblewrap order, ebay is like "the account you ordered from was compromised, but instead of us refunding your money automatically you gotta wait to see if the order shows up or not before you can file a dispute". So since I can't really afford to make another order at the moment, I'll have to wait that out and see what happens. If I'm lucky the order shows up and there's no delay, if not it might delay some of the orders maybe a week.
Any idea when extras may be showing up?

Regarding purple: it doesn't even exists a pantone like the original render, this is most likely the darker purple. Take the online pantone if you don't have the physical one and take a look.
If you go lighter there are pinky purple or too light purple that doesn't match the render as well and are even worse (e.g. the rama light purple render, which is imho bad). Other purple in the pantone are just the blue-ish purple kind.
Regarding yellow: sure. But different renders showed a different yellow tonality. But this was always supposed to be a "muted yellow" which is what it is on the final product, not a gold yellow, neither a mix of yellow and orange.
Most of the people were happy with the samples and OP went ahead, would you blame him? Or better wait other 3 weeks for sample and later get something even worse.
On a last note, complain before the set gets into production (e.g. you didn't said a word when he showed the samples), don't complain when the keycaps are actually produced and are exactly the samples that OP showed.

Most likely everyone was happy with purple.
Just some comments on the yellow but none of these was really a complain or a direct ask/disappointment for new sample.
I totally see a small difference pantone vs cap, but is a very ligth difference to be honest.
And no, from people response i didn't expected new samples. OP would have said that if he was going to delay for 3 weeks for new samples.

Regarding the "small differences" i'm talking about the yellow, the purple is darker compared to the OG render but the rendered purple doesn't even exists on the Pantone scale (nothing similar to it).
You just linked a render which lighting was increased once the render was made (clearly) vs a photo with no lights at all where the color is just ****.

I think as usual people just need to wait until they get the set in hand to make their judgments. Getting in a fit of rage over pictures just seems silly when we know that lighting plays a HUGE role in how dark colors look on camera. Get mad once you have them and stop arguing over lighting conditions.
+1 any color combination that throws camera's white balancing off, don't believe the photos.

Thanks for the comparison with Laser that most people are familiar with. Now that I see it, it seems that the colours are close enough to the renders. Honestly the original render colours look kinda 'metallic' and expecting it to look the same with plastic keycaps may be far-fetched.

It's such a deep, "plum" purple and it contrasts beautifully with the buttery yellow. I don't care for the yellow by itself but when you put the two colors together they really shine.

He’d usually say he was aiming for a wheat color which is basically aiming to be desaturated and not rich.
I’m curious which render people are basing their criticisms.

In the last image you can see I added the Samurai accent and imho it looks closer to the renders than the Phantom accents.
As I said before, based on the renders I expected a slightly warmer yellow. It is what it is. You can like it or not. I just wanted to make the point that the color is different than I expected.

This morning I had some time and light and made a couple of picture to compare the yellow better. Below are two photos of the yellow color in GMK Phantom.

In the last image you can see I added the Samurai accent and imho it looks closer to the renders than the Phantom accents.
As I said before, based on the renders I expected a slightly warmer yellow. It is what it is. You can like it or not. I just wanted to make the point that the color is different than I expected.

Thank you for the comparison! This is what I actually thought it would look like from the color samples, which initially I thought could use a little bit of “warmth” to get closer to the render.
Nonetheless, I still think the actual yellow came out great!

Thanks for the shots and the comparison, I think you are right, it does look different from some of the renders. From your pictures, I personally do not dislike the yellow, but the purple seems a bit darker than my expectations. I am waiting for my set to show up!!!

Here are my thoughts after getting it:
- The yellow is actually nice and spot on.

With a light hitting directly the keycaps from a close point or on the sun they looks exactly like the render, but most of the people don't have a light flashing the keeb directly, so in most of the cases you will see it darker than the render. Taro is a bit darker or with another tonality.
I like it, but a bit lighter would have been better imho. Of course if your room is always dark or with very low and warm lights, this is gonna be really dark and near the black, otherwise if you have strong white lights in your room, that's actually a nice color.

The yellow is super nice, and the purple perhaps a tad bit dark, but I love in the shots where there is no flash or when it’s lit by ambient light...
I generally get a feeling that this set will look awesome on your board when you use it, but on a show board , perhaps at a distance you may not even notice the purple...

In the first picture the purple is nearly identical to what I see with my eyes by holding the keyboard next to my screen. It’s maybe a tad cooler than real life but it’s the closest I got without completely blowing up the picture. I was never really able to get both purple and yellow to match at the same time so I corrected for purple on this photo because it needed less correction.

This second photo with the LEDs needed VERY little correction and I think is even closer to real life than the purple of the first photo. (Edit: this second picture also shows how quickly the purple changes depending on how much shade is covering it. In this photo my body is between the window and the keyboard but in the first photo it's not.)

One thing I’ve noticed a lot is pictures posted that have been taken in an unknown artificial light source. Yes, the photo might match what you see with your eyes but without knowing the lighting conditions the reference is basically useless.
I’m personally very pleased with how this set turned out. I doesn’t perfectly match the renders but with how difficult this color has been to photograph, I’d say they did a pretty good job.

I got my set today as well, this is a very unique color. I can actually see the difference - not just in a he pictures- but in real life too. I personally feel that the purple is a tad too strong for normal fluorescent lights (office setting) and Absolutely gorgeous under natural (but bright - read outside) sunlight . The yello is good too.
On my desk it looks like atredl ‘s second picture.
I feel like it really goes well with gold colored cases like the examples above...

I was under the impression the RAMA involvement was for the design commission only, and with the TARO fiasco, was worried a bit. This GB is sending out the finished products though, so I am not seriously worried, but I would like someone's at least taking care of this artisan key.

Yeah uhh..if RAMA's involvement was only as designer, believe me that's not enough to ensure the product is gonna get shipped out (not that that absolves him of blame). Just look at the Exent GB.
