This Massdrop-hosted group buy, unlike most, is posted in the group buy subforum due to significant community involvement.  If there are any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me.

This is such a good looking set, but man... GBs have such a long delivery time. February of next year? How can people wait that long for something they paid for.

Yeah it looks like if you want more than one child kit you have to "add another order" and deselect the base kit, so that 95 number is padded.

Even so, great response so far! How do the child kits work with SP? Do they each have their own MOQ?

SP is just so backed up on the SA production line.  This was really the earliest we could have hoped for.  We could have waited until November to run the drop, but there's a very good chance that more SA group buys would have popped up by then, and our December production slot would have been taken and we'd be waiting even longer.

Yeah it looks like if you want more than one child kit you have to "add another order" and deselect the base kit, so that 95 number is padded.

Even so, great response so far! How do the child kits work with SP? Do they each have their own MOQ?

Every kit has a MOQ.  They vary from 25 to 100; standard SP tiers.  You can see all of that right here:  http://www.massdrop.community/

MD will use that page to post daily numbers for each kit so we can watch for price breaks.

Looking forward to more realistic-looking renders, I'm not a huge fan of the current mockup but I suspect that this is one of those sets that looks a lot better in real life than it does in mockups.

:))  Maybe we can follow-up with an Archer tie-in novelty pack.

I neglected to tell Massdrop about making extra space bars available in the drop.  6.25 and 7 units are automatic -- are there any other sizes I should throw in there?  6.5 for the weirdo Corsair users?

DEFINITELY - roll in the Spacers as soon as  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: .

For the Corsair users, time to step up for once and get a REAL keyboard.

SP might not have molds for 6.5 in SA profile.  I'm not seeing it on the list.  Gonna go back through a few GBs to see if they've ever been offered.

It might just be 6, 6.25, and 7.

I am excited for you to finally get this fantastic set up, congrats! :thumb: I've been planning on getting this set from the beginning but with a ship date of February 2nd makes it seem like Massdrop is in a hurry to get their money. I know the long wait is caused by SP having an influx in SA keysets but it doesn't make too much sense to start the GB now or at least have it run for a longer period of time. I don't really have a problem with it, there have been GB's with a lot longer wait times but this is different, it's on Massdrop with MD community members, not on Geekhack where everybody understands the troubles and waits of a group buy. With my experience on Massdrop I have noticed that they usually don't live up to their shipping estimates initially given. I know there are a numerous factors involved and it isn't all Massdrop's fault but I feel like there will be complaints and not as many people jumping into the GB because Massdrop is jumping the gun.

There are going to be complaints, yes.  No matter how hard we've tried to get out in front of it, the long wait for production & shipping is going to take its toll.  We're doing the best we can.

This plan was the lesser of two evils.  If we had waited to start the GB so the time between payment and delivery was shorter, then the odds are high that our December production slot would have been taken several times over by other SA key sets.  There will always be a key set in the queue willing to take the next available spot -- that's just the competitive nature of the hobby.  So by waiting we only would have prolonged the inevitable, at best.  This way at least we're ensured the next place in line and we have a rough timetable.  That, to me, is better than continuing to sit around waiting for the unknown.

Extra space bars should be available soon.  The artwork is done and we have pricing from Melissa.  Just waiting for MD to post it.

I'm also proposing a very small blank pack based on feedback from the drop.  Let me know what you guys think.

Did someone say 6.5 spacebars?  I'm really hoping the designers push for the 6.5 spacebars because true its that "non standard bottom row" group of Corsair and Logi users and yes I have since learned my lesson, but relative to 7U, 6.5U is very common.  If you guys can all get together about it, it would really be helpful.

Here's the thing Data and T0mb3ry Matt3o, CQ_Cumbers and everyone else out there in design land, you can really get some upsell on your novelty kits when you add 7U space bar support since the Corsair and Logi boards have more keys that need caps.  That's the plus side to why I always inquire about them.

Keep up the great design work guys, less wait more GBs!

We have CLEARED the first hurdle.  114 base kits sold.  The next price drop is at 200 and we should hit that easily.

Edit: Extra space bars are NOW AVAILABLE at checkout, or from the "My Transactions" page.

Edit: Extra space bars are NOW AVAILABLE at checkout, or from the "My Transactions" page.

Onya  :thumb: .

Got 4 of each because space-bars are sacred pieces, needed for extreme typing.

I have a question, and feel free to link to it in the IC if I missed any discussion about it, but did you give any thought to a deep dish (scoop) 5 for the numpad set?

The issue of scoops and bumps never came up during the IC (predating the big debate), so I proceeded with bumps concluding that bumps were what people would be most familiar with.  A couple people have asked about it since the group buy started and I'm considering ways to add scoops somehow.  Open to suggestions...

Well, I throw it in as a suggestion...a gimme in the numpad kit since it would likely be pretty cheap to add as another key? So just like the alternate '~`' key in the base kit, you just add a 5 with the scoop in addition to the bump already in the kit?

Are the default F and J deep dish? Does SP make FJ with bumps and/or bars? You could have a mega-option kit with deep dish, bars, and bumps for qwerty, dvorak, colemak, and numpad to cover more options and get higher MOQ.

If you're adding a catch-all set maybe consider a 1.5u backspace and 1u \| for hhkb/infinity layouts.

Didn't have an Infinity then. Well, still don't. I guess it's starting to get close to 6 months waiting on Massdrop. :)

Absolutely gorgeous set.  I hate SA, but, depending on resources, I may finally decide to hop on an SA set.

Also, huge thanks for including the two symmetry keys for 60%ers.
