The SIIG seems to be the more popular of the two so far.

It's still at $0.88, though.

Oh, and that was aimed at everyone else, not you, since it seems you're the seller.

Edit: By the way, the switches are in good shape? It says you lubricated them, so they aren't the gritty feeling that is often felt in these older ALPS boards?

mmhh, i would have liked to bid on the Siig but unfortunately the 'worldwide' shipping is missleading...

i was exited seeing those auctions with worldwide shipping but then seeing that this means 5 countries for OP is sad. :(

Let's see now... Let me plug it in and give it a test drive.

The keys on this board seem to be in OK condition. I did a bunch of them, so I don't really know which is which... I'm typing this message to get a feel for it.

Yeah, they seem fine. I'm sure that by doing a complete disassembly and cleaning all the switches out it would feel better, but it is in good condition. I don't seem to be having any problems with it.

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Seems to be fine to me. I'm not really an expert on ALPs, though.

Yeah, eBay doesn't let you do just selected countries. It has to be all countries except certain ones.

eBay is bad to sellers, if you didn't know that already. They force a number of conditions, then charge a percentage through both paypal and eBay that ends up to be comparable to what a professional auction house would charge.

$150!!!!

I don't think you'll have to pay that, there's a brand new Minitouch in another auction for around $100.

So don't use ebay. Put it up for sale here and save yourself all the costs/hassle.

One advantage eBay does have over here is the idea of a "market price". That is the beauty of an auction, in that ideally it settles on the exact price that an item is worth to the market. eBay's timed auctions interfere with this concept quite a bit, especially with the vileness that is sniping, but it's closer than setting a price, and hoping it isn't too low.

Post by: theferenc on Tue, 12 July 2011, 15:27:58
Actually, that's my bid. I've had it happen too many times that a seller changes the starting price of an item because there were no bids made on it. But he said he had others, which is what I was hoping to trade for.

After all, I'd much rather trade than buy.

Hmmm... that Model M is tempting. No, no more keyboards for me. I have far too many.

I really only use one, and I've got a KBC Poker in the mail already. Thanks for the offer, though!

Yeah, I'm not really sure how much to ask for these keyboards. It's hard to set a price. So, I figured I'd just put them up for auction and see what happens.

Realllly... that's interesting. I've loved every single AT101W I've used (I've had 3 or 4 over the years before this one), and the one I currently own is absolutely horrible. It's mushy and not crisp at all, whereas all the other one's I've used have had a really snappy, almost but not quite linear feeling to them.

Round 1 has ended.

The SIIG Minitouch went for $41 + shipping. The NIB Dell AT101W went for $55.77 + shipping.

I updated the original post for the new auctions.

I can sell NIB Dell AT101Ws for $50 + shipping to Geekhackers directly without going through eBay, just PM me with a shipping address.

The Minitouchs aren't all in sellable condition. They need a few days under a fan to dry out the lubricant (they are still a little too smelly like chemicals), so I'm going to just keep on auctioning those off one at a time.

The NIB Dell went for $56?

Wow, now I'm glad the dude I offered to give one to for free last year didn't take me up on my offer.  I got two of those and they have gone up in price more than my 4 IBM NIB Minis (well, percentage wise at least).

Probably has something to do with Supply and Demand.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised that it sold for so much more than the Minitouch.

Still, those complicated black alps are really nice. I was surprised that they were so much different than the simplified alps on the DSI keyboard that I bought. I think that they're much more consistent (less off center sticking) and lighter in comparison.

I believe that complicated black alps are no longer in production, so these NIB Dells are just about the only way to try them out in pristine condition, AFAIK.

Since you're a geekhacker I will. You'll need to pay the extra shipping cost, though. The best price I can get for shipping through USPS is $31.35 by Priority Mail International, which is quite a lot compared to the price of the keyboard.

Here's a story for you: I shipped a keyboard to Japan one time. The shipping cost was 4x the cost of the keyboard.

The seller put in a claim that the keyboard didn't work, without communicating the problem (they probably used a cheap PS/2 adapter - I tested that keyboard before shipping). Paypal forced me to refund the entire amount + shipping even though the buyer had not communicated the problem, and had not put in a claim for three weeks after receiving the keyboard. So, I lost money and was a victim of buyer fraud.

Lesson learned: don't ship if the cost of shipping is disproportionate to the cost of the keyboard.

You can bid if you like, but if you win I won't do a refund if you have a problem with it. The keyboard's good, I tested it out, so there's no need to worry.

I updated the original post for the new auctions.

The Minitouch for this week has some scuff marks on some of the keys (see the full resolution pics in the eBay auction). It's not in as good condition as the other Minitouchs, but it's still clean and works fine.

I was about to say, you probably flooded the market so that everyone who wanted one has one.

That and you were on ebay, so there's no way to know how many bidders were even here to begin with.
Title: eBay US: SIIG Minitouch, Dell AT101W
Post by: eyesnine on Sun, 28 August 2011, 07:34:54
Four out of six AT101Ws went to the same person, so there have only been three unique buyers so far (one in the US, one in the UK and one in Japan).

Also, I'm still getting 25-30 watchers for every auction.

The problem is that my auctions are getting sniped - I don't think I'm really running out of people to sell to.
Title: eBay US: SIIG Minitouch, Dell AT101W
Post by: False_Dmitry_II on Sun, 28 August 2011, 11:51:06
Heh, ah.

I can't even think of a reason to want more than one NIB dell, it's not like they're rare so those could be gotten as needed.

What I mean by bidders being 'here' is bidders being geekhack members (or, at least, lurkers).

I'm actually kinda surprised it took that long for sniping to start happening, I never ever actually just bid on anything on ebay. But then, buyers just means winners, so it could be that other bidders that had been doing nothing but raising the price found something and have stopped.
